I understand the majority of members that come on SKMB are either:relatives of King; friends of KIng; other writers; employees of KIng. But does that mean that you have to hurt my feelings? I was hurt yesterday when nobody 'Liked' anything I said and when I came on here today, half the members logged-off. I'm not paranoid, but I think there's a conspiracy to make me feel uncomfortable. We all live on planer Earth and have to all get along, and try to be nice to each other. NOT to hurt another person's feelings.
Well, I can tell you that I’m neither a relative, employee, professional writer, or friend of our gracious host. I don’t believe that the majority of the people on the board are either.

There is a whole discussion about the 1-10 rating scale over at a UK college student forum. Even if some people don't find the scale sexist, most will agree that it's outdated and juvenile. One person even called it barbaric. It focuses solely on a woman's looks and doesn't consider her intellect, profession or personality. In other words, the scale objectifies females. What sparked this whole rant was a post Tom Brady on Facebook made about his wife being a perfect 10. It was the first time I've heard a woman quantified that way in years.

I really liked the version of Great Gig with vocals by Durga McBroom and Rachel Fury, on the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert tape..I think it kind of brings up feelings of loss and pain, maybe other emotions listeners can relate to,and reaches some heights..each to their own, not really a rock song, but the DSOT concert tape was pretty good..and I tend to run towards ACDC and Van Halen also, but these ladies nailed it in my estimation..

This version is being played at my funeral, if I have any say about it by then, which I won't, but that's my wish. This version is a wonderful amalgam of anger, shock, grief, sadness - it seems to have all the stages encapsulated in nonverbal vocals and that lovely, stately music backing it up.

I want to taste bourbon. I don't think I've ever tasted bourbon.

If you've never tasted it, or hard alcohol straight, it's like sipping wood-infused gasoline at first. Once your taste buds and trachea get past the shock, you can appreciate the different varietals. Maybe. I like it. But like Dark Side of the Moon, it's not for everyone. Different people, different tastes.

Jake is a stupid nickname for Jacob. I hate nothing more than being referred to as a “Jake”. This isn’t an attack on fellow Jacobs who prefer the name “Jake”, just slandering the idea.
(Please don’t refer to me by my real name now that you know it)

My dad was Jason Jr. , and he was nicknamed Jake. His dad, Jason Sr., was called JT. I'm Jason III but grew up being called Tom (middle name Thomas) by the family until I reclaimed the name Jason in high school. (Some friends call me Jase.) Our first son, Jason IV, is called Jay.

Of course, none of that addressed the statement at issue or helped in the discussion. If I could give you the last 45 seconds of your life back, I would.

Structured sport (i.e. team sports with rules at any level) is on the way out. Generation Millennial don't like rules and don't like competitive sport. I know many people between the age of 15 and 30 and they tell me they couldn't care less about baseball, football etc.

Sports are fun, but it's the excess that bothers me. So much of society's resources poured into something that, at the core, is simply recreational, societally useful, and really kinda frivolous. Institutions of "higher learning" pumping millions, billions, of dollars into their sports. Yeesh. Professional sports - the latter part referenced in "bread and circuses."

I'm not a fan of the Beatles, and they were the anthem band for my generation. I appreciate their influence. I'm familiar with their songs and can hum and sing along ("Sunday monkey don't play piano song, play piano song"). Never bought any of their albums or singles.

I like a lot of what Nixon did as President. Unfortunately, he was psychologically unbalanced and morally corrupt. I hope that's not inflammatory. I'm speaking factually of some things that were done during his Administration that had a favorable impact on society.

I should register at that other forum since no one talks to me at SKMB anymore.
Sometimes people's posts are perceived as just a one and done, no need for a conversation. Or maybe people have nothing interesting to say or to add to what you have said. So not necessarily ignoring you.

Do you engage with others and ask them questions? Quote their posts to get the conversational ball rolling? Not saying you do this, but there are people here who have a lot to say without showing the least interest in anyone else. They don't "hear" anyone else. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just they don't require a back and forth interaction. It's just who they are.

I am always told that all role play is Satan worship and that playing games is for kids. I been doing both since I was kid and will tell the day I die. I don't think Satan has ever show up.
