I don't think it's harming anyone. Perhaps I should have a heart to heart with the cats about this.

My youngest, who totally shamed me when I was going to put it up before Halloween, is now shaming me every time I say I'm going to take it down. WTH you wishy washy bastid! ;;D

First, if your cats say to take it down, I'd listen.

Second, he's just messing with your head now.;-D

I am definitely a beetch and yeah *wagging finger* girl.... you are crazy! Or lazy...?

No seriously, I get it... it's a magical time filled with magical memories, this is the time when you're really holding on tight to those loved ones that you cannot physically be with anymore... so I get it.
Plus, he really is quite hot. :biggrin2:

No. I will not touch him. Occasionally his balls fall off, but I just spread his boughs and stuff them back on.

Yep, that's right. Still up.
This is copied and pasted from a website from the UK called Somerset Live (dot CO dot UK)

Is it unlucky to keep your Christmas decorations up?

Epiphany is traditionally the end of Christmas and so you should have taken your Christmas decorations down by then.

The story goes that tree-spirits live in the greenery, such as holly and ivy, used to decorate homes.

Over Christmas, this greenery provides shelter for the spirits during winter. Once Christmas is over, however, they need to be released.

If they are not released in time, the greenery and vegetation might not return, threatening agricultural failure and famine.

Since your tree is not the old fashioned live type, this may not apply to you :apple::)

When should I take my Christmas decorations down? How long can I keep them up for? - Somerset Live

The greens should, optimally, be burned. I'm not really that superstitious but I will fall all over myself to get the Christmas decorations down by Jan. 6th

I have a confession - our Christmas tree is still in the corner of our back yard, all dried up and crispy. (it's near the compost bins but I don't think it is compostable).

It used to be a nice Fraser fir.

Maybe Andy can chop it up and burn it this summer - we couldn't burn it in the fireplace due to the resin and risk of a chimney fire.

I'm just glad we have a high fence!

It should be. But if Andy burns it this summer tell him to stand well back. The spirits escape when the sap pops ;)
