Seems our friendly ghost19 has been trying his hand at cooking lately. I know his raccoons have enjoyed some of his less edible dishes. ;-D I also saw that he made some spaghetti that his son and he actually ate and enjoyed, so good for you, ghost! I know you'll just keep getting better and better.

I thought ghost could still use a little help from his friends here on the board, so this thread is for members to post EASY recipes for ghost to try. Ghost, let us know what types of foods you and your boy like. I'm posting an easy broccoli casserole here, but I'm not sure if you like broccoli or not. If not, let me know, and I'll post something more to your liking!

Easy Broccoli Casserole

1 frozen bag of chopped broccoli
1 small jar Cheez Whiz
3/4 stick of margarine
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup dry Minute Rice

In a medium saucepan, boil the broccoli in water until tender; drain.
In a large bowl, mix the Cheez Whiz and margarine (chopped into chunks). Microwave for about one minute, then stir together until margarine is melted. Add both soups and uncooked rice to the bowl. Mix this together with broccoli in a 2-quart baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
You can also add diced, cooked chicken to the casserole to make it more of a meal.

Re: the second book: that was a fave expression of my old Mom - she said when she first met my Dad she could not boil water without burning it!

Thanks everyone, for the recipes. Anyone need to know how to field strip a rifle, adjust optics, or anything like that? I'm all about paying it forward...lol.
I used to be able to take my FNC1 apart, lay out all the components and then put it back together (under the watchful eye of our Weapons Tech instructor)

But that was in 1980, so probably you'd have to walk me through it now!

This has been an interesting thread. Sadly i cant help Ghost with recipes since i am on the same (or even slightly under) his level of expertise. But it has indeed given me a few ideas and thank you all for them.
Do you have one of those slow cookers or crock pots? You put your ingredients in, then go to work (make sure you put it on low) - then when you get home dinner is ready!

This model is quite good - it is programmable (I have yet to use the fancy looking probe that comes with it - but that just turns the little hole into a vent which releases a nice delicious smell that makes your whole kitchen smell wonderful

Wow! Never heard of this thing before. Do you have to take a course to handle it??
Hey you smarty pants ;;D

I think you have more than enough common sense to figure it out!~ :uh-uh:

besserwisser

p.s. I hope that is not an insult! (maybe something got lost in translation when I translated smarty pants to Swedish) :biggrin2:

Good rifle. The German G3 was based on that design. Was it the older model with the carry handle mounted on top?

Oh wow - we are going back to basic training here (I was just a dumb civilian) - it was very heavy - after 12 weeks in Cornwallis Nova Scotia I think the arm I used to carry that thing was bigger than the other one - pretty sure we had to hold it on the left while marching.

I think this is it

We could put it on repeat out at the range

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies
1 Cup sugar
1 Egg
1 Cup Peanut Butter

Combine sugar and egg, add peanut butter. Roll into balls and press with a fork onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 8 - 10 minutes. (I use a baking stone because it's more difficult to burn the cookies)

* You cannot mess these up.

Well..... Besserwisser is actually a german word. It is often used to indicate a person who knows everything better (besser) than everyone else. A Know-It-All kind of person. I much prefer to be a smarty pants! Sounds more endearing somehow....

Yep. That's it. I've shot the G3 H&K model before. Solid rifle, but yes, it definitely has some weight to it.

Okay - just goes to show that you cannot trust Google translate (or whatever it was I used:dispirited::umm:

I have an old crock pot but it sticks a bit and it has four settings - on, off, low and high - that is a disaster waiting to happen if you were to put in on high and then not be able to get home in time!

That is why I recommend a programmable one - plus it keeps the food warm for an hour or two once the cooking is done:thumbs_up::tickled_pink:

Last week, I made soup with this packet from Bear Creek. Just add water and heat. The chicken noodle was delicious. I bought creamy potato today (Walmart) along with more chicken noodle. They have several varieties. You wouldn't think dehydrated soup could taste so good, but it does.

Perhaps we could get together and concoct a meal worthy of a science project sir?:)
Don't feel bad ghost19 - I just tried a new recipe called Graham Cracker Toffee

CCSWJ104_graham-cracker-toffee-recipe_s4x3.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.616.462.jpeg

This is what it is supposed to look like

I am afraid to post a picture but mine looks pretty freaky!

The brown sugar and butter mixture started to firm up a bit after I put the pecans in it so when I tried to pour it over the graham crackers it was a bit too thick.

I tried to rescue it by taking the crackers that got pushed to the side and placing them on top, then sort of whacking them with a small kitchen hammer (the kind you use to tenderize meat)

After baking in the oven for 10 minutes it did look a bit better :cool2::icon_eek:

I'm taking a big pan of this to the Pow Wow tonight - I hope it tastes better than it looks!
