Houston author Justin Cronin (The Passage) tweets:

Tonight's big story: "America's fourth largest city paralyzed under light, misty rain and slightly chilly temperatures."

"Across the city, children languish in the glow of violent video games and get jacked on pointless, time-filling baking projects."

"…while parents, bored and irritated, hammer themselves with glasses of cheap box wine the size of paint cans."

In other news: "Long lines form at emergency rooms as city residents report 'seeing their breath' while going out for morning paper."

From USA Today:

"Snow and sleet fell in Houston and its northern suburbs, and ice on overpasses made driving treacherous. Motorists from Texas to Virginia were warned to stay off the roads, while Georgia, Louisiana and South Carolina declared states of emergency."

@Bev Vincent

I tried to edit my earlier post, but the 30 minutes were up.

I realized when watching a video posted by USA Today on-line that people are just not prepared. Up here we dress for the weather, as it is expected. Plus I know many have four wheel drive and we are used to driving in slippery road conditions.
Good luck and I hope it all melts soon!

I would think by the time you got to Oobleck you might have run out? Or did ya really, really have to go?

No...I was more or less expressing my distaste for the snow that doesn't seem to stop. Gazette says we've had 141.25 inches...Keweenaw County has had 222 inches. The reality for here at home is probably somewhere in between those numbers. You get to feeling like you're tied on a leash that is too short...no where to put the stuff anymore...but appears we have some blue sky out there now. Heading off to work, hi ho, hi ho.
