There is a positive use for chipping people. Unfortunately there is also too much room for abuse.Another moment of a dementia patient that could have been saved from microchipping.
He pushed an elevator’s alarm button but no one came, officials say. Weeks later, his body was found.
mjs9153 -- I don't post these to be obnoxious, I hope you know that. And there are hundreds of these situations that could be posted from across the world.
These stories are so tragic, I just want to see a positive spin on the chips. So, I put my rose colored glasses on and wish that there could be a good use for this technology and not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Oh okay. I've seen those just didn't know what they were called.I think it is those silver things that they put on the more expensive items - I saw one on my Estroven package last night that I bought at Shopper's Drug Mart.
It looks sort of like a maze
Dang stuff is awfully expensive - maybe it prevents people from stealing things, as it probably beeps when you go through the scanner at the exit (??)

I`ll try to get an Englisch Review
I know you do..it is just scary how things are becoming common practice.A few weeks ago,I went to buy a few beers, and the clerk was insistent on seeing my ID.Usually I just say OK,here you go,but had just brought cash in the store, and telling her I was fifty three years old wasn't helping that much.Think about that, almost three times the legal age and was getting grief. She finally relented, but it was uncomfortable.I hate when they scan your license for alcohol purchases, why is that necessary?Where does that information go?When will scanning your license for EVERY purchase you make become de facto?
That last paragraphthis has been forced by clerks and servers etc not following instructions or the law and carding appropriately. the last thing a business wants is to get a sting and get screwed over by a stupid employee. at the restaurant i used to work at, they told us flat out, even if it's your grandpa, card them (to emphasize the seriousness of it) . . . there's too many people who lack discretion to leave things like that open to chance. which isn't to say that there still weren't restaurants to get busted by lax employees. the liquor store near me has to enter a birthdate for the sale to go through as a precaution, and even then they don't card me every time. the places where they've taken to scanning your license are probably to force enter a correct birthdate and take it entirely out of employees hands because they've just been burned too many times by crappy employees.
for older folks, i think they should give them something to wear like a bracelet they can't remove easily so they can be tracked, in the cases where they're developing dementia.
Read the thread girl! That last paragraph
- dementia?
How did this come up? I thought he was talking about being carded for liquor purchases
Actually there are bracelets out now for those with Alzheimer's
God - I hope eventually a vaccine or something is invented to eradicate this horrible disease
Yeah - okay - you are right - he just seemed to be going off on a tangent (something I am guilty of myself)Read the thread girl!
The cool thing is,even though most insist no,they would not chipped,is two other people besides me think that free rabies shots and flea powder is worth the price of admission..I answered no. I have tape over my laptop cam and microphone holes. I wear tinfoil inside my toque so no one notices. I'll often buy ketchup that I don't like just to skew their info gathering. Everyone join me in buying products you don't like or will never use! We'll throw their marketing way off! On a more serious note, this would be easy to refuse based on religious grounds. I may be getting this all screwed up but in the Jewish religion I don't think you can even have a tattoo if you want to be buried in a traditional way.
