My Video Shining Review

Discussion in 'The Shining' started by Questthroughking, Mar 16, 2017.

  1. That's the plan (excluding the ones I saw when I was younger)!

Not sure what it was (maybe the time travel aspect) but something about 11/22/63 really stuck with me.

I had also put aside all my Stephen King reading for quite a few years and this book brought me back - I saw a review in our local paper and ordered it from the library - this in turn somehow led me to the SKMB!

I think this is the best message board on the internet! - I hope you enjoy posting here :):redface-new::cheerful::encouragement:

I think he did a Batman versus Superman comic. Or was it just a Batman comic. I think it was just a Batman comic. I don't know if he has or is going to do any Marvel superheroes.

I keep meaning to watch your videos, Questthroughking, and life keeps getting in the way... I have just added this one to my "watch later" list, and will get around to it in a day or two. :)
Well done to you for taking on such a big task, and keep at it sir! :)

See, I'd forget it was in the freezer, and then have a booksicle. :m_sweat: Great review, by the way, I enjoyed it! One thing I liked way better than the movie about the book is Wendy had...substance. The movie made her seen like this ditsy, weak wife type, when she so wasn't. The finger-talking thing was kinda silly to me, too.

I'd suggest reading It, especially since the movie's due out soon. It's my favorite by him. (No pun intended!)
  6. Much appreciated! Your breakout role , Mr. Mercedes, will be up tomorrow Holly!

  7. I totally agree about Wendy! I had so much more that I wanted to touch upon, but my video started getting too long!

I am so excited about it. I plan on reading it at the beginning of summer! I am a teacher so I probably couldn't tackle that book in two weeks with work. I plan on uploading my review a month or two before the movie!

Questthroughking, that was a great video man. I subscribed to your YouTube channel so I could check out future reviews.

Although I know you focused on the book, I (re)watched the film some months ago and wrote a piece on it. I'm posting the link below in case you're inclined to read it and share your thoughts (was just going to copy and paste but it's kinda long and I'm lazy).

  10. Hi everyone! I just posted my next video review. This time I am looking at Mr. Mercedes! I hope you can find the time to check it out my channel! I will be posting a new thread in the Mr. Mercedes thread and in my self-promotion thread as well!

I really enjoyed discussing the Shining with all of you!

Hey Quest, I was wondering what grade do you teach? What subject? Do they know of your King project?

  12. I teach 8th Grade Math and Science! They do not know about my video series as I don't want any parents upset that I am influencing their children to read material they deem inappropriate. If I was a high school English teacher, I might consider sharing with them. I am actually leaving for Washington DC tonight with the kids for their 8th Grade Trip!

Nice review!! You make a great point about 3rd person vs. 1st person novels and how 3rd person you can get so many different perspectives from so many different people.

    Hope to see more!

I know he wrote a short story called "Batman and Robin have an Altercation:

Please don't look too deep into this but for some reason the title "Batman and Robin have an Altercation" strikes me as hilarious.
I would pay one hundred thousand dollars cash to have Samuel L. Jackson read this thing aloud.

Not sure if he actually wrote any comics, but I remember that back in my teen years SK wrote an introduction to the 400th issue of Batman explaining why he loved the character. You can find it here, in case you're interested:

I just printed that out, I'll read that later. I wonder if Stephen King ever read the 'Phantom' comics by Lee Falk.
