I ended up attending two events - Sewickley, PA and Nashville. They were both great but very different experiences. The PA event was rather small with less than 700 people about half of whom had stood in line together for 6 hours or more. It had a much more intimate feel including meeting the book store owner and employees. The setting was nice is a quaint little town just outside Pittsburgh on a beautiful summer day. Nashville was crowded, hot, and the Ryman was impressive but it felt like you were there to see the Beatles (in fact Ringo is coming soon). It was more an EVENT with nearly 3000 in the audience. King told mostly the same stories from his usual speech. He read from a new short story in PA and no reading in Nashville. He hardly mentioned the new book at either event which seemed a bit odd. He touched on that saying that the audience had already bought the book and could read it for themselves. The most exciting news was about the new book with Owen. Least comfortable seats go to the Ryman with its back and butt breaking church pews. When all was said and done, I ended up with 3 of 5 signed books from those in my party. It must be grueling even with the private jet to do such a long tour. I was worn down just going to two. And I was struck once again at how popular King has become to sell out so many venues in short order.

I also attended two events and it was a task to pull off, Mine was the NJ and PA event. I also think that when its all over with, that us who got to attend the event in Sewickley, will have some of the most rewarding experiences of the whole tour. I am very glad I took the time to camp out all night for the tickets and attend this event. So far from the stories I am reading of others experiences form the other stops the PA event was intimate, well ran, and over all as smooth going as one of these can get. And the added bonus of the story getting read, something I think he cant pull off at the bigger events simply because he likes to show the inspiration behind the story from the photo on his ipad. Maybe someone can project it in the future stops? Maybe the event that only 400 tickets were sold for the B&N store will get a reading, but then again its the last stop and it already sounds unorganized from what I am reading. Not even closing the store?? How is that going to even work out?
I wish everyone the best experience possible and look forward to hearing more stories of how the events turned out. Happy to hear others getting signed books as well.

That sound more than just chaos. Insanity- in this day and age. Not fair to the 400 who have the confirmed seats. Is there is set off- private- part for those and SK during the actual event?
Can you image how many will "wander" about, possibly disrupting the event?
Will hope for positives and this gets settled before the event.

Yeah, I'm very anxiously nervous and intrigued to see how it pans out. Especially considering it's the last stop of the tour (which I assume is why it's in the afternoon) it will be interesting.
Really hoping it goes smoothly, but I know I'm not the only one that's concerned on how it's planned based off the B&N facebook posts. The store doesn't seem to want to change it though.

So I was at the Ryman event in Nashville. I stayed back across the street and watched the line file in for reserved seats (?). When it got close to 8, we walked over and ran into danie, who let us cut the line. I was in the balcony, 2nd row on the aisle. I was right next to the mic for questions but let others have their moment. They of course asked the same cliche questions as usual. Oh well. It was a cool event at a cool place. The CMA Festival was happening so it was full on nutville in Nashville.

I also went to 3rd Man Records while in town and had some great ribs at the Peg Leg Porker over on Gleaves. Definitely recommend it if you like BBQ. It was a long round trip drive, but had a great time. I thought of doing a gonzo piece on it, but then thought of JohnD and couldn't get myself together to do it. On the way back we drove down through Alabama. I had never actually made the drive on I-65 South to Birmingham. Pretty drive.

Please Moderator, thanks SK for us all for doing these tours. I am sure they are hard on him and he always has a smile and the gift of gab for us. :)
