….as long as the plums are rinsed well in cold water-you won't have any problems, and that's just if spray/fertilizer got on the fruit...if it was strictly applied to the leaves and roots-you won't hurt a thing....my Dad worked an orchard for many years on our land and fertilized, sprayed etc...and look how I turned out!....ok, poor example.....
Awesome, thank you!! It was just applied around the trunk at the base. Not sure if we will see more, but I hope we do!

So, that is where the "bodies" are buried? =bald patch. Try some rye grass seed.

I used to have this beautiful garden. Gorgeous. And then things happened and I couldn't tend it and Mother Nature started reclaiming her dirt.

This year, slow but steady, I'm trying to clean up the mess. I had cedar beds in an area for my garden, but just can't maintain it anymore, so ripped out all of the garden, killing almost everything in my path like Godzilla having a bad day in Tokyo.

Where those cedar beds were, it looks like two graves. Honest to God mounds the length of a human. I so want to get some of those halloween headstones and put them up, because then at least the sprinkler guy will have an easier time deciding, should I or shouldn't I alert the authorities?

Well I don't have much of a garden because I live in an apartment building and all I have is a balcony. But I do grow herbs in big pots. This year I have Basil
and Rosemary. So far the Basil has grown to 12inches high, twice. The third cutting isn't ready yet, its at about 5 inches right now. Rosemary is doing fine but it seems to be a once a season cutting. There are 9 stalks all different heights. I dry the herbs and use them all winter. Next year going to grow more basil and 2 other new kinds of herbs.
Have some flowers too, pansies.
That's my garden such as it is.

I'm growing some oregano on my window sill and I cut some of it yesterday to put in my macaroni and tuna salad. Beside that I have some basil but it's awfully small still as I started it from seed. So guess I'll let that get stronger first before trying to use it.

Tried to start some rosemary once from some herbs I bought at the store by putting the stems in water but it didn't work.

How are your wild fires? Still burning?

Hope all is well out there! I almost bought 2 lb of blueberries yesterday and I thought of you as they were from Kelowna :tickled_pink:

Decided 2 lb was too much for me.

plus 4.99 seemed expensive

Holy cow! $4.99 is what we would pay for a pint down here. I would have jumped on that!! You can eat them plain, in your cereal, in some muffins or pancakes. You can even throw them in a ziploc and freeze them. Quick, run back out to the store!

Really? Shoot! I had a good Weight Watchers recipe too.

Maybe I will go back to the IGA and see if I can find some more. It did not occur to me that they can be frozen while fresh - thanks!

Hi Neesy
I had no luck trying to start a plant in water. My gardening skills are not good. Lucky they grow in pots. I bought tiny plants at the Nursery but nxt year getting the larger ones, they are hearty.
B.C. has 450 fires burning right now and 24 new fires in the Okanagan Valley since lightning hits on Tuesday night. Just heard all that on a local News
report. To top it off there has been several sightings of 2 full grown grizzly bears in the city limits. Rarely heard of them coming into this city.
Is it $4.99 for 2 lbs? If it is, that's a good deal (even for 1 pound). Local fruit stands charging around $7. to $8./pound and one grocery store is
$4.88 for 1/2 pound. Do you get Okanagan cherries where you are? They are very good this year, really sweet and not watery.

Sorry to hear about the fires (and bears!)

We get the cherries here - I have to take the basil out of the clay pot with the starter soil and put it in real dirt, then maybe it will do better.

Or wine according to Wikipedia! ;;D

Thought of you today. Was driving by Kmart and saw a sign claiming Orchard Fresh Peaches and thought to myself yeah right - this is nowhere near Doc's part of the country! :biggrin2:
Hey, I need to try muscadine wine. LOL. I hear it's tasty. The jelly is so good, though. On a biscuit or English muffin with butter. I'll send you a jar one day.

Peaches are scarce in North Dakota and Kmart stores are scarce in Alabama. Ha. Walmart is still king.
