Right??!!! It is still very cold here and there hasn't been any sunshine. I have been fighting the blues (my mom calls it the mulligrubs :) ) too, cat in a bag ! Been slowly cleaning my mom's place, but it hasn't lifted my spirits. It's actually done the opposite. LOL

Update on my job - I am actually called a "Messenger" now so had to turn in my old Medical Transcriptionist ID - was trained Saturday and Sunday on the 2:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. shift and I enjoyed it very much.

Monday and Tuesday was 1630 to 2300 (thought I'd say it both ways, although technically the hospital should use the 24 hour clock or military time)

Wednesday is my day off.

I have blisters on my feet tonight after four days of walking, and walking and walking.

I went from an average of 8000 steps per day in the old job to 20, 230 the first night and then 21000 or so the next two nights.

Tonight was 24, 596 steps - no wonder my legs are tired!

I enjoy walking around to the wards - we go to Women's Hospital, Children's and also the General Wards. We deliver medications and TPN (total parenteral nutrition), pick up lab samples, take charts from Medical Records when requested e.g. Women's triage [some of those poor girls on the labour floor sound like they are in agony] :icon_eek: (never realized how lucky I was to have such easy births).

Well, enough about that for now - I sure hope that once my body adjusts and I get in better shape it will become easier (it should).

Sorry I have not been able to post much lately - still having mouse problems with my desktop computer so I had to resort to my laptop
Whosh! 24,596 steps - that's awesome!! Sounds like a fun job - I'm glad you like it. Your poor feets, though. I don't like sneakers - they make my feet sweat and I get blisters when my feet are wet. Clarks are good for lots of standing/walking a lot- I wore them when I worked in a large book store - walked my arse off, so I did. Clarks breathe well. I just saw some blue suede Mary Janes with heels over there!

I got a mixed bag of news yesterday. First, my boss might be gone next school year. That will be tragic for the school--she is a phenomenal teacher--but maybe good for her. She's started business as a special education consultant. The second bad news is that, depending on Rump and his shenanigans, our entire Title 1 section could be eliminated. Even if it continues, our budget will be cut. The good-ish news is that even if the budget is cut and my boss leaves, she has recommended me and one of my co-workers to take her position. I LOVE my job (should have done it years ago), but YIKES! The principal is very receptive, but...YIKES.

You can do it!

Good luck and if it happens to become a reality I am sure the kids will be so happy!

Just stopping in to say hello to you all. Things have been nuts my way. The cat managed to destroy my WiFi box by knocking it off the desk...It was a lovely quiet weekend here, the kids went stir crazy. Now, they are sick again with ear infections. Wishing you all a great day full of love and green lights. I am off to play catch up with chores.

If you don't mind me asking, at what book store did you work? Did you like it?
I don't mind you asking, Doc. I worked at Barnes and Noble from 2005-2008 (bookseller and story time leader). It was very corporate and perfect and tidy. One of the assistant managers left to become a manager at Borders and I went with her 2008-2011 (when they closed), same thing - bookseller and story lady. Between the two, I loved Borders best - it was actually in Memphis, not the suburbs, and the staff was very casual and fun - the clientele a little more down to earth. But the store was messy and constantly being re-arranged, and then Borders went bankrupt and that was depressing to go through with them - very sad. I'd been going to that particular book store since my oldest was a toddler. I worked the bookstore gig in addition to my full time job, just for extra money, and a non-negotiable way out of the house. I loved spending 10/15 hours a week walking around with a fancy cup of coffee and talking to people about books. And I loved the kid's section and story time.

I tried for years to get a book store job. And when the B&N opened near me I came up with 10 reasons to hire me - printed them on bright red paper and taped them to the door that said "Employees Only". What did I have to lose? I got a call the next day and they hired me after talking to my old bosses.
