Currently reading I Am Watching You by Teresa Driscoll. I read a quarter of it in what seemed like no time last night. It's nothing spectacularly original, but the mystery is interesting.
Before that I read Why Did You Lie? by Yrsa Sigurdardottir. Again, it was a decent, knotty thriller though Iceland's police force didn't come off looking too good, and I can only say the ending was...problematic.

I am deliberately taking my time with the latest Irving novel. I'm on page 145. Although his books are published more frequently than in past years, I like to read them slowly. (I'm reading a few other novels, too.) This one is set in Mexico, The United States, The Philippines, and a few other places. Yes, there is the token prostitute, writer, and even another circus! :)

Here is a two minute clip where the author explains how the timeline is constructed without giving away the plot.

Are there any bears??? It's just not an Irving novel unless it has bears....:p

I'm working my way through Part 2 of The Stand for our group read. Also reading The Shining with my daughter. She has read Eyes of the Dragon and Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, but this is her first scary one! She is loving it!! :applause::applause::applause:
Has she asked you if she could choose another Stephen King book? That's cool that you will have this in common with your kid. :encouragement:

Does your daughter like cats? If so Pet Sematary or maybe Doctor Sleep would be right up her alley

And if she prefers dogs there’s always Cujo or the Sun Dog, or even the dogman from The Shining (but your already reading that one)

Oh yes!! She has been asking to read more, I was just waiting until she got a bit older. She is now the same age I was when I started reading SK. She is a reader! I love that she is old enough now to share! I am so proud! ;-D

I think maybe The Talisman will be next, or Salem's Lot. Doctor Sleep is a good suggestion though, to follow The Shining!

What about the Green Mile? It’s got some mature content but if you read The Shining she should be okay with it, just skip over the parts where Percy is caught pleasuring himself to the popeye comic if she’s not old enough to understand that.

We will work our way through. She is almost 13 but a very advanced reader and mature for her age. I am comfortable leaving the choices up to her.

I'm happy you all share this. My oldest has joined me in my love for all things SK - just in the past few years. She's almost 27 and she's currently reading The Stand. My youngest has read The Girl Who Love Tom Gordon and she loved it, but she hasn't read anything else by SK. She's 15. My son, 17, loves all the TV series but still hasn't read a book by SK. He prefers reading non-fiction.

Currently I'm reading

These collections are always such a smattering of stuff I never even think of, and new and creative ways to communicate. I highly recommend them.
