....rotten, theivin', stinkin' bastids!.....Since the Munchkin turned 18, it's time for me to take over the homeowner's policy for the house. I decided to get a quote from the folks I have the car insured with. Turns out, the old insurance company had added endorsements we didn't need, and had been charging us as if we were still renting out the house. They were also still charging for endorsements on the first house we lived in. Looks like I'm going to save a nice chunk of change by switching the policy.
Imagine my surprise that I was insured for liability on watercraft that I've never owned, and that my furs would be replaced in case of theft!!....rotten, theivin', stinkin' bastids!.....
....not surprising, because what woman would be caught dead without her mink wrap whilst astride her jet ski?.....Imagine my surprise that I was insured for liability on watercraft that I've never owned, and that my furs would be replaced in case of theft!!
I was going to say "Oh good! So you are flush then?" (Remember I asked if you could get a bank loan?)...again, I thank you all....we certainly would welcome some good luck....at least the funds to pay for it were in the bank, just leaves us that much poorer for updates elsewhere that need done......the bad gunky has to pass sometime.....
....thanks buddy, same time I'm dumping six large into the basement-Contractor drops off our renovation estimate of $55,000....so much for the Golden Years, more like the Losing Green Years.....Hang in there GNT. The same thing happened to my mom when my father passed. 50 years of neglect because he refused to spend any money on the house needs. $50,000+ later (new roof, new siding, plumbing, windows, A/C installed, paved driveway, redo the landscape, and also had to tear up the floor in the basement and put in a french drain) the house was up to snuff. But it was worth it and put mom's mind at rest... and made selling it after mom's passing pretty easy.
Dad was the same - only it was just about 25 years worth of neglect.Hang in there GNT. Wow, that's one hefty bill... An arm, leg and testicle.....thanks buddy, same time I'm dumping six large into the basement-Contractor drops off our renovation estimate of $55,000....so much for the Golden Years, more like the Losing Green Years.....
I did the same with my chimney after watching the fire dept do it the first time. I rigged mine the same way as the FD... Rope with 3 - 20" chains on the end. Worked okay for me and didn't break the liner.Dad was the same - only it was just about 25 years worth of neglect.
Instead of getting someone in to clean the chimney for the fireplace he got up on the roof with a big heavy chain, thinking he could knock all the soot off the inside of the chimney.
He ended up just cracking the clay liner - oy vey!
Oh no!!! ((((Scott and Tracy))))....what did I do?......mainly tried not to let my head explode.....y'all know Tracy and I were moving into my homestead....well, that fun fest finished up Saturday and Monday, we found out that all the plumbing in the basement is rotten.....FML.......yep, when Dad and his contractor friend built this place in '64, they laid all copper pipe.....INCLUDING the in ground pipe which naturally was covered over with cement and piled high on top with all our earthly possessions.....the piping has literally disintegrated and now our floor is a jack hammered mess and our things are covered in a lovely death shroud shade of gray concrete dust.....so now their is a gaping hole, not only across our entire basement, but in our reno budget....I really and truly try not to bitch on here, but holy hell I had to vent somewhere....I feel awful, and even worse because it has really hurt Tracy's dream of re-doing things here.....not bad enough that she's still not allowed to bend, lift or twist because of the surgery, but the main floor of the house looks like a landfill evacuated it's bowels in each room, but to top it off, the basement looks like the San Andreas fault......shoo puppy I'm pissed!!.....but my thanks folks for reading this muck and letting me try to chill out.....
I know, right!?!....not surprising, because what woman would be caught dead without her mink wrap whilst astride her jet ski?.....
Nothing like sleeping in your own bed.Arrived back home today from Lisbon, while I love travelling and seeing new places, people and things I just adore coming home.
Which is exactly where I'm lying at the moment, takes me a while to calm down after a flight, always a white knuckle experience for me.Nothing like sleeping in your own bed.
