I am cleaning - dishes and laundry mostly, but hope to get some vacuuming done as well. Just got the vacuum cleaner back from the repair shop. Making some split pea soup that my mom started putting together. She makes great soup, me, not so much! I made some sugar cookies for my mom, another relative, and my mom's neighbor for St. Patty's Day. The neighbor told me yesterday that she gave some to her 95-year-old mother and how much they both enjoyed them. So I'm going to try to get another batch made for them today. :)

I want a bowl of the soup. No one here likes pea soup but me.

Granddaughter is coming for a visit today while her mom goes out. She's been getting more comfortable with me...really attached to mommy.

You know how some kids have a security toy or blanket...well for her it's
boobs!

When another child would grab their teddy, or suck their thumb, she will stick her hand down her mom's shirt. So with me babysitting, that's what she started.

When she did it in front of my son, he laughed and said she never did that with him...only her mom. The mom said " that's because you feel like the dog".

Anyway, today I'm wearing a t-shirt with a higher neck. We'll see how this goes.
Oh my! My son did this after I weaned him - he was 2! He would die if I told him that now - he's 16.

Kat puts her hand in her mom's underarm...Ewwww.
Waiting for Karen to come home from the doctor with Kat. She has been running a fever, and is really congested.
I hope kat is feeling better and it's not the flu!

My niece would do this to me all the time. When I tried to stop that, I would feel her little hand walking it's way up under the back of my shirt for a sneaky reach around.

I wonder if you could give me an idea of what to bake for tomorrow night? It's the weekly "pow wow" that is held at the Turtle Island Community Centre.

It just happens to fall on my day off - I was thinking cookies, but squares and bars are good too - I'll have to research it when I get up tomorrow and put my mind to it.

I used to be a baking fanatic like you, but somehow or other I got out of the habit :dunno:

p.s. Enjoy your trip! I hear that Vancouver is a beautiful city :cool2:

Oh hey - my co-worker just made this to share - it was very good, no bake.
Pineapple Ice Box Cake
1 Box Crushed ‘Nilla Wafers

Line bottom of rectangle casserole dish with the ‘Nilla Wafers (save a bit to sprinkle over the top when complete)

Mix the following ingredients until fluffy and spread over the Vanilla Wafers

1 Cup Powdered Sugar

1 Stick Butter

2 Eggs

Beat 1 small carton heavy cream (whipping cream) until thick, fold in 1 can crushed pineapple with juice and 1 cup chopped pecans. Spread over the sugar, egg and butter mixture. Top with reserved ‘Nilla wafers. Chill in fridge overnight.

I am starting day 3 of my training class. So far it's going pretty well, but I'm not used to being away from my family for so long and I am missing them.
I bet that's tough! I haven't been away from my family and I don't think it would be easy . But try to enjoy - not having to cook or clean or get up with the dogs - enjoy room service, watch whatever you want. It's almost over!!

My husband has been complaining about a noise the van makes. It was before winter that he started. Every time we get in the van he goes on..."do hear that noise? That clunking?" He has taken it in twice to get it checked. First time they replaced some clamps that should be kind of soft and springy, but were hard. Just with age.

But the noise didn't stop.

Every time we go in the van....he complained about it. On the weekend, it felt like it wanted to stall. It didn't actually stall, but even as a passenger, I could feel this.

Today he took it to a different mechanic. This same bar (attaching the two front wheels) also has these spongy thingies on either end...and he replaced them. Also found a hole in the muffler. Replaced what needed replacing there, and I think did a tune-up.

Dh picked up the van, then picked me up at a mall. Drove a few block, on a bumpy road. And he says "notice a difference?" ..... "What do you NOT hear?"

Apparently "You bi*****g about a clunk" was not the correct answer.

Sorry Neesy I just saw this and it is a bit late to be of any use. What about brownies? I have a great recipe (easy easy)
for them if you want it for next time. I am starting a 2 day baking binge tomorrow to take to Vancouver with me. Vancouver is an amazing city. I really like the area she lives in. It's quiet and big trees shade most of the street, people
are very nice too.

Thanks - as it turned out, my son was hanging out with his new GF and a couple of other people at a mall, so we did not even go.

Plus me and my blistered feet kinda took it easy today (too much walking in my new job)

So it is back to a day shift tomorrow and I should actually be sleeping by now, but after working four evening shifts in a row I am not tired :rolleyes:

One of these days I hope to be able to visit Vancouver - it's on my "bucket list"

(I heard that Victoria, BC used to have the nickname of "the city of the nearly dead and newly wed" - have you heard that one?)
