So far my day started off on a bit of a bad note

My son had 55 dollars three days ago and now he is down to five. Turns out he saw his ex-girlfriend/fiancee who told him she broke up with her new guy.

She managed to get 40 dollars out of him and she said she would pay him back $100 (she has "borrowed" way more than that from him in the past). She was hinting around they could get back together.

Since then he gave her another 10.

I will have to call her foster mother and tell her that Stephanie is back to her old tricks again.

My son is so gullible.

It's rather frustrating but I will just have to keep him on a strict budget as he has been told before not to trust her, but obviously he misses her and will believe anything.

Thanks - as it turned out, my son was hanging out with his new GF and a couple of other people at a mall, so we did not even go.

Plus me and my blistered feet kinda took it easy today (too much walking in my new job)

So it is back to a day shift tomorrow and I should actually be sleeping by now, but after working four evening shifts in a row I am not tired

One of these days I hope to be able to visit Vancouver - it's on my "bucket list"

(I heard that Victoria, BC used to have the nickname of "the city of the nearly dead and newly wed" - have you heard that one?)

No, never heard that one but I haven't been to Victoria either. The only down side to Vancouver (I think) is all the
rain, but it's on the coast so of course it is going to be wet most of the time. Hope those feet feel better.

My husband has been complaining about a noise the van makes. It was before winter that he started. Every time we get in the van he goes on..."do hear that noise? That clunking?" He has taken it in twice to get it checked. First time they replaced some clamps that should be kind of soft and springy, but were hard. Just with age.

But the noise didn't stop.

Every time we go in the van....he complained about it. On the weekend, it felt like it wanted to stall. It didn't actually stall, but even as a passenger, I could feel this.

Today he took it to a different mechanic. This same bar (attaching the two front wheels) also has these spongy thingies on either end...and he replaced them. Also found a hole in the muffler. Replaced what needed replacing there, and I think did a tune-up.

Dh picked up the van, then picked me up at a mall. Drove a few block, on a bumpy road. And he says "notice a difference?" ..... "What do you NOT hear?"

Apparently "You bi*****g about a clunk" was not the correct answer.

....well played ma'am!.....

It still is called that. What is your new job

Official title is "Messenger" but basically I work in the hospital mail room.

We deliver medications and TPN (total parenteral nutrition), mail, medical charts, lab reports etc.

We also pick up lab samples to be sent away for investigation (we still use the old dumbwaiters or as some people call them 'the lift')

We can also work in the Tube Room which is quite cozy - it's my sanctuary, sort of, as it is tucked away behind one of the clinics and a great place to hang out on coffee breaks!

So far I have done the Women's Hospital route, Children's Hospital and the General Wards but I am still in training.

Sounds like you need some new shoes!! Check with your co-workers, new boss. See what others are wearing. You need to protect those tootsies!!

Socks- make sure you have cotton absorbent socks. CK with an athletic shoe place, either at mall or on line. There are special socks for runner and walkers. They do make a difference.

dsurrett - Russian is a difficult language. Many regrets I did not learn it as a child from my grandparents. May your studies go well.

Oh Neesy you have to look after those feet. I was thinking the same way as Spideyman and Hill lover35,
socks and shoes are really important. I get cotton socks at The Bay and they are great. Did your doctor suggest
anything? Maybe some special insoles(Dr Scholls) for the shoes too.

....sounds like better fitting shoes and padded socks are in order, plus if you have a lot of sweating-use foot powder or a dry spray on deodorant for your feet before you socks em up...

If you have a smartphone, check a free app called "Russian Made Easy." It's what I started with. Never too old to learn! Another free app called "Russian Alphabet Mastery" does a very good job of teaching the Cyrillic alphabet.
