It's been an odd week at work......
On Tuesday, one of my clients tells me that since I only trimmed the ends of her hair, she was only paying me X amount of money and not tipping.....I'm like, um, no....that's not how it works. You don't have to tip, but I don't charge by how much hair I cut off.
The nerve! I'm interested in knowing how she reacted to your telling her this.

Have been working with what the boss call "The Stupid Pile" for two days. Its an odd assortment of loans, debts, mortgages and other papers that belong to some case. The question is which. I solved some mysteries (the papers are from the 70,ties) but some remain. Its a bit like laying a puzzle without all the pieces. A little like detective work, a little like research for a paper on ancient anglosaxon cultural traits.

Hmmmm....my day has consisted of sleeping in a bit, then playing on here, and now the rest of it will consist of this....I recently discovered they named a beer after me. Shouldn't I be getting royalties or something?

I took today off to have a nice long weekend and it's a scorcher(for Maine!) but not to worry, the beer won't get sipped until exactly high noon(14 minutes from now) Even I have my standards ;-D
Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!! Can't wait to raise a glass with some of you next year! :very_drunk:

Nessy, I have a stress disorder, and I find I fell it most in my neck, so much so that I can't move it some times, so magnesium helps with muscles not tensing up. That is why I take it, I am no longer taking it daily, just once every few days.

That suck s about your camper trailer.
Thanks - I had gotten my hopes up, but that's okay - I knew I was telling the truth, even if I got the impression they did not believe me :O_O:

A little bit of water damage on the ceiling is just something we will have to live with for now - c'est la vie

If you click on the thumbnail you can see it is quite a nice one, once it is opened up - it has a furnace, three burner gas stove and a fridge

The last couple days:

I bought myself flowers.

At the grocery store, I walked by a couple homeless young men, boys really, who looked hot, tired and carved out of clods of dirt. They weren't panhandling, just sitting in the shade with their dog. I bought the dog food for a week, walked by them and just handed them the bag. The guy said thank you so softly, and he looked so sad. I didn't get them food as there is a shelter in town that does that, but I wasn't sure where the food for the dog came from. I have no doubt they shared their food. Do shelters allow dogs? Do they feed the pets of the homeless?

I donated books, clothes, bedding, house goods. I recycled two computer towers.

I bought the ingredients so my son could make us Dill Pickle Soup. yummm. My mom used to make this, and we hadn't had it in almost 9 years. He did a great job.

I spray painted an iron pig I have out in the back yard. Every spring, I change the color of this pig. This year she is glittery pink! A little late getting her done, but, life sort of kicked me around for a bit and I had no energy or desire.

I've eaten two Pomegranate popsicles. The only sugar I allow myself for months now.

I'm working on a quilt top that my husband's grandmother made, that she pieced by hand. It's just a little 9 patch square pattern, but she made about fifty of these, all hand sewn. The material choices are old, not particularly pretty, the patterns and textures are not necessarily pleasing to the eye, but, I love the rag tag way she just grabbed a piece and started sewing. These were made for utilitarian reasons, not for pretty. And, I'm sure she used fabric she had on hand, probably old clothes recycled. There is Daniel Boone novelty prints in there! Anyway, I'm going to piece it together, take it to a quilter and have it made.

It will be beautiful. Grandma just died this spring at 99.

Sad to say,Dana Jean , most shelters do not allow pets. Yet a good number of homeless have a pet. In recent years - a few= very few shelters have partnered with PetSmart and set up a program where homeless can play and be with their companions during the day, volunteers care for the pets during the night. Many homeless refuse shelter because of their companion.

What a beautiful idea for the fabric. Picture when complete, please.

Food pantries often will have pet food, it depends on who is donating what. In our community, there is also a no-kill animal shelter that will provide food and sometimes low level vetting (or at least, care and supplies) for pets of the homeless. Our shelter is a real gem, every community doesn't have one that is so easy to work with and so available.

My grandma made woolen tied quilts, using cotton ticking backing, old rough cotton and wool batting...she made 4 patches, 9 patches, and crazy quilts, all with heavy wool scraps that she must have accumulated over her lifetime. My dad was born in 1928 so that gives you an idea. Heavy, heavy quilts. I wish we had cared for them, but nobody really appreciated them when she was making 2 every other year, and by the time my mom realized that she should cherish them, they were lost or destroyed :(

If you still have some of the old quilts, even the ones you think are beyond repair, there are so many ways you can restore them . Maybe not really use them anymore as they are delicate, but you could display them. I so wish, also, that I would have paid more attention to my grandma and her sisters while they were doing all these quilt things. Just beautiful art.

In your mirror.
My mother and I had such a good time at lunch! We couldn't make up our minds on what to order and then we narrowed it down to three plated. We decided to order all three! We had a couple of bites from each and we wimped out  We have big eyes but neither one of us eats much at a sitting. Now we each a humongous doggie bag to munch out on tonight. Yay us!:encouragement: (We talked a lot and laughed a lot. I love my mother very much. Now you know that.)

Oh, she sputtered and stammered and said she just figured it would cost less since it wasn't a "whole haircut"...... I explained that I did cut all of the hair that she wanted cut, and since I didn't cut just one side, it was considered a whole haircut. She paid me, and then asked our manager if she thought I had overcharged. Manager said no, the price is the price.
