My daughter turned her chicken nuggets into bitty bricks once.
Good morning!
Mine turned into itty bitty petrified chicken bits. I could have used them as a weapon.

My mom tried this once. Her reasoning was, it was covered with water, so it'd be ok. Looked like a lighting storm inside the microwave!
I tried three different times.....
First try, I just put the egg in by itself. Three seconds later, it exploded.
Second try, I covered it with water. Five seconds later, it exploded.
Third try, I poked little holes in each end and covered it with water. Five seconds later, it exploded.
My house smelled for a week!
Throw a soaking cloth in the micro, heat it up and keep it in there for about 20 mins. Open the door and clean the inside with this cloth. Works great.....that is how we did it in cooking school. You have probably heard of this one, but a great way to clean the inside of a messy microwave is to put a cup of hot water with about a teaspoon of lemon juice in the microwave. Boil it for a few minutes until the whole interior is steamy - really loosens the dirt!
I just recently purchased a cup from Starbucks - I thought the paint on it looked like gold paint but figured it was unlikely.
The first time I tried to reheat a hot drink - wow! Sparks everywhere!
Thank you for taking one for the team.I was at a house party as a young teen. One of those parties where the word spreads and it is standing room only. One of the bully type troglodytes was trying to put the owners cat in the microwave. I was horrified but scared of the guy but my insane angel on my shoulder gave me the courage to punch him in the head and get the hell out of there. He caught up with me about a week later and I got mine. Big deal though, the cat remained unscathed. Other than that it's always been button, button, button, heat and eat (or drink).
God almighty, thank you mal. Wonder if that guy grew up to be a serial killer.I was at a house party as a young teen. One of those parties where the word spreads and it is standing room only. I think Star meant to heat up the wet cloth- maybe 3 minutes/ then leave the wet cloth in the microwave allowing the steam to fill it and thus loosen all the crud.( the 20 minute time span)Did you mean 20 seconds?
That is what I meant....thank you. I meant to leave the micro off for 20 so the steam could work on the baked on food splashes. It creates a wonderful steam, in fact and you just have to swipe it with the cloth. I would finish the cleanup with a clean cloth with a little soap then rinse it out and wipe. It is loverly.I think Star meant to heat up the wet cloth- maybe 3 minutes/ then leave the wet cloth in the microwave allowing the steam to fill it and thus loosen all the crud.( the 20 minute time span)
Ps. the cloth must be sopping wet not just damp. That is what I meant....thank you. I meant to leave the micro off for 20 so the steam could work on the baked on food splashes. Okay - so let it sit after it heats up? For a sec I thought you meant cook it for 20 minutes!Throw a soaking cloth in the micro, heat it up and keep it in there for about 20 mins. Open the door and clean the inside with this cloth. Works great.....that is how we did it in cooking school.
Not a microwave story - but related (sort of) Hot air popcorn popper - babysitter put butter in it with the popcorn kernels and turned it on. Luckily she did not cause a fire and amazingly the popper still worked after I managed to clean it out.Our babysitter and oldest daughter decided to make the Ogre and I dinner - this was 17 or 18 years ago. So she made an omelet and put it in fridge so we could re-heat it hammer. The bacon, however, she thought would be best if it was still hot when we got home. She put several pieces of bacon directly on the microwave spin plate and nuked them for hmmm... maybe 20 minutes. We can home to fire alarms blasting, smoke everywhere and the bacon had melted the glass spin plate - it was melted into the plate. She was ditsy and I think she got confused. Cold bacon and a fresh omelet would have been better. We had to get a new microwave. Thanks, Whitney! She's great - still a good family friend. She's a nut though.
