I finally watched Mad Max (the one with Tom Hardy). Had to see what all the fuss was for since it was nominated for an Oscar for best picture. Holy sh*t!!!! It NEVER stopped!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Non-stop action all the way thru!!! Great F/X!!! Best Picture? No. Best Non-Stop Action Flick? YES!!! Can't wait to see the sequel with Hardy. There just wasn't enough of him in the first one.....

I watched The Road on netflix. VERY bleak and depressing, although Viggo Mortensen was very good. Not a feel-good movie, for sure!!
Skimom, in a different thread, talked about the kind of books that scare adults. I'd say this is one that scared me. The book is very bleak and suffocating; a realistic vision of hell on earth. It was shocking and...gray, lol. Bleak. I have never seen the movie. Maybe I will watch it one day.

Well I just finished watching Stand By Me. I haven't watched this film since I was in secondary school. The last scene with Gordie typing on his word processor still makes me teary-eyed (shuddup). Stephen King wrote a coming-of-age story that's right up there with To Kill A Mockingbird and The Yearling. We really never have friends like the ones we did when we're twelve.

I saw SBM in the theater when it was released back in the day. There was lots of sniffling and wiping away of tears by many audience members (myself included) at the end of that film. It's one of the best coming-of-age films ever. Now that River is gone, the end is even more poignant.

Dude, for real. In class all my friends saw it cause I was the resident SK nerd. We all saw a bit of ourselves in the characters. Fortunately for me, I'm still friends with most of those guys. It's a great story, and a perfect film.

You've just described the movie, a realistic vision of hell on earth. Most of it looked as if it were in black and white, and it was very scary indeed. I hope if this ever does happen I'll be long gone from this earth.
