I'm recording a few that I have not seen so far - I think this is the first year I have decided to go for it and try to watch a minimum of at least one scary/horror/comedy movie (or a combo of all three) every day in October!

Maybe I will watch two on the 30th as I don't want to be watching a movie when all the trick or treaters come around on Halloween night

I am recording one called "Cooties"

Cooties (2014) - IMDb

A mysterious virus hits an isolated elementary school, transforming the kids into a feral swarm of mass savages. An unlikely hero must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives.

Apparently they get a bad batch of chicken nuggets!

2. Baskin (FTV) (in Turkish, with subtitles)
Turkish policemen get a call about Satanic goings-on at a remote old building, and end up in a hellish nightmare world where the past & present seem to intersect. Baskin is not for the weak of heart in any sense of the word, it possesses a slippery and brutal logic all of its own that makes it feel like if David Lynch had directed a Hellraiser movie. The languid opening act and foreign language may turn off some viewers, but those who stick around for the second act will not be disappointed. I haven't experienced such raw and visceral dread of the "bad, dark place" since watching "The Descent" and that's pretty high praise. The fear factor peaks a bit early and the third act loses some steam as things devolve into more traditional ritual torture, but newcomer Mehmet Cerrahoglu is impossible to look away from even as he makes our skin crawl. Many of the ideas in Baskin feel a bit undercooked and could have used some fleshing out (no pun intended), but that's what sequels are for, right?

4 out of 5 stars.

Just finished my first movie of the month:

Graveyard Shift - creepy and funny at the same time

Better than I expected it to be :eyebrow:

1. Graveyard Shift (FTV) I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5
2. What We Do in the Shadows - this was very funny in a dark way - those Kiwis are nuts! (FTV) 5 out of 5

1) The Monster Squad 1987

I started my marathon out with an old favorite. First saw this about the same time I started reading Stephen King. A bunch of kids have a "Monster Club" and soon find themselves surrounded by real monsters, each side trying to find an amulet. If the kids find it, they can send the monsters to Limbo. If the monsters find it, they can rule the world! *Dun, dun, dun!*

The monsters are great. Count Dracula is the leader. There is Wolf Man, and a Sea Monster. A Mummy and Frankenstein's Monster, but Frankenstein is just a big lovable lug.

I was a little afraid that this movie would have lost some of its charm for me, being from childhood. But it didn't. I enjoyed watching it again.

Bonus mentions...the guy who played Ritchie in The Sopranos had a small role at the beginning. He looked the same 30 years ago! Gave me a little giggle. And, for the first quarter of the movie or so, one of the kids is wearing a shirt that says Stephen King Rules. :applause:

2016 list:
1) Se7en (1995) – Serial killer punishes his victims using the 7 deadly sins as his guide. I think I watch this one every year around this time. Still makes me jump in my seat! 4 out of 5 stars.
2) Silent Hill (2006) – FTV – A women goes in search for her daughter within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill. First time watching this one. I didn’t’ care for the abruptness of the start, just kind of plunges in expecting that you understand what’s going on. Mom acts weird around cops, but friendly to strangers. Much weirdness going on. Meh. Decent special effects. 1.5 of 5 stars.
Sean Bean is the dad. He didn't die!:Oo: Yet!

Some great film suggestions here.

Have not seen either of the Conjuring films yet. Can I admit something? For some reason, this franchise literally does scare me as indicated by the bits I saw of the first one.

I am going to try to watch one of my favorites, The Monster Club, an old Hammer-like film (don't think it is Hammer though, want to say Amicus; were those companies related at all, or do I not have the name correct?) with three tales. Vincent Price and John Carradine are in the in-between bits. Excellent atmosphere for Halloween.
I've only seen The Conjuring so far.....It was really good and a little frightening. Two of my clients, (we talk of SK and scary movies when they're in the salon), said they thought the second one was even better.....and maybe a little scarier. I'll be checking redbox to see if they have it yet.
I always loved watching Vincent Price in the old B-Movies based on Poe's tales.
Haven't seen the Hammer series......maybe I'll check it out.

All those Hammer like trilogies are on my halloween must see list. I love them. This year, I'm trying to watch at least 15 movies that I have never seen before, because I always go back to my loves and my list stays the same year after year.

But, I will also be watching this at some point.
I'm trying to add more that I've never seen before as well......it's a little difficult, though because I'm kinda limited by what's available on Netflix, or what I can pick up at Redbox.

I just don't like the new ones that much. everything has to be blood and gore. What happened to the intellectual horror movies, that left things to your own imagination, but had a plot and fun characters. Not these paper thin people.
