I agree!!I just don't like the new ones that much. everything has to be blood and gore. What happened to the intellectual horror movies, that left things to your own imagination, but had a plot and fun characters. Not these paper thin people.
Great tip!You can also check on You Tube. I watched a few full movies that way last year per a tip from skimom2!
4. Burnt Offerings -- One of my old standbys. I just like this one, where else could someone have a beat up old mansion, charge people to rent it and do maintenance and take care of the their mother in the attic? America!
Oliver and Karen paid THEM to do all this work, for a vacation! I would much rather pay that 900 bucks for 5 days at a really nice hotel where everyone catered to ME.

....that creature looks like a cross between a Cenobite and a Licker from Resident Evil.....3. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (FTV)
X-Men for the Harry Potter set? After hearing strange tales of battling monsters from his grandfather, an awkward teen boy travels to a boarding home for Peculiars, who are children with special powers. Soon he's leading the misfit bunch in the fight against the monstrous Hollows, who have their own peculiar talents as well. This might not seem like horror on first blush, more of a dark mystery, but the monsters here play for keeps--shooting tentacles out of their mouths to feast on the eyeballs of children! This is a Tim Burton film, so expect a riot of eye-popping effects, but he also lets the story do most of the talking here, and my 11-year old daughter who is familiar with the books was enchanted--and a little bit frightened.
3.5 out of 5 stars.
