Since I was a little girl, my mom always gave me a chocolate rabbit for Easter. Always. Even as an adult. My mom passed away 6 years ago and it has been difficult for me. She was my buddy. I went from talking to someone on the phone 5 times a day to just nothing. To seeing her at least once a day, to nothing. It's a very surreal feeling. Many of you have experienced it. And all of us who go through a loss have to experience those "first time" things without them. The first minute, the first hour, the first day, the first morning, the first meal, the first holiday.... you know what I'm saying. It is brutal.

But, I have an older son who picked up the torch unexpectedly. Such a small gesture, but one that gives me great peace and love. Since my mom's passing, my boy has given me a chocolate rabbit.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter, or just a super nice Sunday! (Or Monday for Flakers and all of you who are ahead)

And don't forget -- The Ten Commandments is on tonight! lol!

Happy Easter, eggs designed the traditional Russian way with bees wax.
My husband's family is Lithuanian, and they do that except that they melt the wax off when they're finished coloring the eggs--they're almost batiked. Pretty cool!

Understand well, DanaJean. My mom passed 8 years ago yesterday. Was a difficult day especially so close to Easter.
Sounds crazy, but I miss the doggie cookie hunts- all the dogs have passed. Cats just don't do treat hunts like the doggies did.

A Blessed Easter to all. Peace, love and green lights!

I know what you are saying Dana. I feel you. It's hard. My mom is just *gone*.

Hugs.
And a part of you goes with them.

We just finished a nice dinner of ham, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, mac and cheese, a veggie, and rolls. I'm stuffed!
Holidays are hard when you have lost someone. Both my parents are gone, and holidays bring back great memories of them.

In my family we never celebrated easter. Perhaps mom made a special thing for sunday to eat but otherwise it was just a few extra free days. A long lazy weekend. Thats what Easter was. And still is for me. I used to get some extra candy when i was a kid but otherwise no extras. (I bought some extra good chocolate on friday to celebrate this year but i have eaten already....)

I was pleasantly surprised by my son showing up for Easter service. Grandkids coming over any minute then dinner & relaxation!

We compromised and went to 11:30 service to get oldest there. Son was a few minutes behind us (no vehicle big enough for all of us--lol), and I growled something like, "He'd better show up or else!" He was an altar boy for years, so now I just accept his Christmas & Easter habit (and look forward to when he has kids of his own, to see if his attendance changes ;D).
