June 24, 2015 - Sorry, southern Ontario: It looks like a rather cool, windy, and wet weekend is on the way for much of the region.
As I am sure you noticed, the past two weekends have brought last minute changes to the Sunday forecast. Most recently our forecast for “rain-free periods” on Father’s Day turned into a rain-free day with abundant sunshine. Now as I look ahead to the upcoming weekend, part of me hopes that we can see one more dramatic change to a weekend forecast.
Why would I want that?
Well, currently it looks like a rather cool, windy, and wet weekend is on the way for much of southern Ontario. The first full weekend of summer will likely feel more like what we would expect from early May.
Before we get to the weekend, Friday’s weather looks great! While, temperatures will be a few degrees below our seasonal, temperatures in the lower 20s will feel quite comfortable with light wind and abundant sunshine.
However, clouds will be on the increase by early Saturday with a soaking rain slowly advancing from south to north across the region during the day. Temperatures will only reach the mid to upper teens with a gusty east wind off of Lake Ontario.
The image below shows a model forecast valid for Saturday afternoon. The rain should hold off across cottage country until late in afternoon or Saturday night, especially across Muskoka and areas to the north and east.
