Any news from your sister Dan? This is horrifying. I can't even begin to imagine the overwhelming fear and feelings this is generating.

shine! you just answered my question. I hope her home will be safe, but her and the family are the important heirlooms.I believe that their generator is up on their porch, which is 5 or 6 feet off of the ground. My sister just sent me a text that her and her husband are now over at her daughters house, which is on higher ground than their house is. I know she must be worried sick about her own house.
Safety shield for all. Man was just interviewed on CNN/ people are getting desperate. People jumping into rescue boats and not following directions for safety. Sending so many good vibes your sister's way! I've got a friend stuck in a similar situation. She, her kids, cat, and dog are stuck. Luckily, the's on the 3rd floor of an apartment building but she's not getting out any time soon. Thanks Marsha. I haven't heard from her since this morning when I texted her and told her to leave. They have a generator for power (hers hadn't gone out last I heard other than a couple of flickers). She has a freezer full of ice cream (well, not quite but there's a lot in there) and I told her yesterday she better get to eating it as the freezer won't be a priority if the power does go out.
It has to be hard but things can be replaced, people can't. I admit when you're not the one whose house and everything in it may be destroyed, that's probably a lot easier to accept.I believe that their generator is up on their porch, which is 5 or 6 feet off of the ground. I lived in Pasadena Texas when Hurricane Alicia went through. We survived the storm but it was the not having any power for 4 days in those extreme temperatures and humidity that really was the worst. I know people are going to be in the same situation this time and I feel for them, especially the elderly folks. It's miserable when it's hot and humid and there's no AC.Sending so many good vibes your sister's way! I've got a friend stuck in a similar situation. She, her kids, cat, and dog are stuck. Yes, it's hard to be in that situation. You have to really think about what to take with you. Can't forget to take along the prescriptions and insurance info (medical, home and car!!!) and any older photos that can't be replaced. It has to be hard but things can be replaced, people can't. Thank you!It just keeps getting worse around houston. Got a couple friends i'm getting concerned about. Hopefully the board members that live there are still doing ok, and that your sister stays safe kingricefan.
Prayers and safety vibes for your sister. Will the generator be usable if it floods?
Thank you!Adding krf's sister to my prayers too.
Holy crap.Hope the graphic will show. Harvey will not be done once it leaves TX. This is not a normal storm, so heads up all in the future predicted path.
* If the storm is forecast to dissipate within 3 days, the "Full Forecast" and "3 day" graphic will be identical
