I am ecstatic today because my niece was awarded a Presidential Scholarship. She sacrificed a lot for this.

As her uncle though, I must confess to being a tad displeased that her "Favorite item in backpack" isn't a Stephen King paperback, so I'll have to work on that.

My niece is a beautiful human being and I know the future will be better for her being in it.

I did something little that could have a big affect...it makes me happy.

There is a major recall of flour across Canada due to e-coli. (Who pooped in the flour?) As usual, the recall started small and keeps growing. Now some products made with the flour are also being recalled. Just keeps growing.

The CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) tweeted something about handling instructions with raw flour. Well, I never considered raw flour a risk before. This flour is a risk, even cooked as cooking does not kill e-coli. So, I questioned CFIA about the risks of normal flour....when my kids were small we used flour to make play dough and paper mache. Well, CFIA has now put out a public warning letting parents know if they used this flour to make things like that, throw it out.

Something many people wouldn't think of. And, it's kids that would be playing with it.
Good for you!

Well hang onto your socks Holly, you introduced me too! I thought it was bad grandpa at first!!

That is some funny stuff right there!

If you want to make me happy, PLEASE, please, please start watching Corner Gas! It is one of the funniest sitcoms ever, in my opinion, and hardly anyone outside of Canada has heard of it! I haven't met anyone here in the UK who had heard of it before I pointed them towards it, and so far every single one of them has loved it and raved about it. :)

I'm not really a very big fan of comedy overall. So much of it is mediocre, and my views on comedy have always been: "If it's not as good as Fawlty Towers, why bother?" And then I discovered Corner Gas, and that changed to: "If it's not as good as Fawlty Towers or Corner Gas, why bother?" Yes, it really is that good... <3

Here is episode 1. If this tickles your fancy, all six seasons are on Youtube...
(There you go! Now you know what to do while the board is closed! :))

I'm happy because found out that on September 9th, and 10th there is going to be the annual pow-wow in my area!
I never knew when they were, but I have found a site that lists them all.
It will be my first one, and I'm excited!
I hope to see a hoop dancer, and I want to see the jingle dress dance.
Each dance has a meaning, and I hope I learn a few things.
I want to try the fry bread that they make also!!Hope to see some young men that look like this!!

I received my copy of GBB in the mail today. I unzipped the cardboard carton and slowly unwrapped it, catching my first glimpse of the book jacket.. Golden, much like Charlie Buckets' Golden Ticket.. I continued to unwrap it until it was completely exposed and the yellow, the gold, the orange and blue began to emanate from the carton.. bursting into a ball of luminescence that coalesced and began to grow, shimmering and glinting, expanding and filling the room with a Brilliance never seen.. I think it may be the Sun..

I got a $23.51 check in the mail today!! I was involved in a lawsuit with 6 million other people with a collection company. I paid them off last year, and the lawsuit was about the harassing calls they were doing with their customers. It ain't much, but I now have $23.51 more than I did this morning!
