I never liked Hemingway at all. Boring whiney characters. Catcher in the Rye ditto. Maybe thats why Salinger became a recluse. I did like In The Road. I think you need to go against the tide when it suits you. IMO, Brad and George have been known to put in killer performances. Just not in the big money makers. I also don't think Melissa McCarthy is funny, either. I don't mind knowing how a book is going to end as long as it's fun getting there.

Melissa McCarthy is, IMHO, a one trick pony. Yes, she's funny, but she needs to change it up now or her career will be over. Let's see something from her in a drama.

I liked The Old Man and the Sea, some of the Nick Adams stories, and Islands in the Stream. I haven't read anything else by Hemingway yet and so can't comment further.

Was not putting the job of teaching manners and respect upon the school system. Back in the '50's there were classes offered to the general public- parents included- to teach proper manners/ etiquette. Parents/ grandparents of that era had and taught the respect and manners to there children.
Agree it should be taught, or at least exampled in the home. My question is what happened to those patents who were respectful to elders, used good manners and etiquette in their passing it down to their children/

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my reply. Did not mean to infer but rather point out a problem I've always had with the Canadian school system having to take on more and more of what should be parent
responsibilities.

 Hubby and I were also big fans. Last night he was telling me something and he said, "I took it out of..." and I interrupted with:

"You took IT? OUT?" Yeah, we do lots of one liners from all sorts of shows and movies in my house.
