Hey, Scott, isn't it just much funner to stick around and p*ss off all of those who don't enjoy the Giants (or KRF's) style? Isn't it? ;-D
...tons funner, we're like the two old dudes from The Muppets....

Melissa McCarthy is, IMHO, a one trick pony. Yes, she's funny, but she needs to change it up now or her career will be over. Let's see something from her in a drama.
Something where she isn't a female poster child for fat and gross would do me fine. To keep having those two things connected in public perception is a crying shame, and every overweight person (especially woman) who panders to that stereotype makes it worse. She's clearly capable of more than fat jokes/sight gags, foul language, and over sexualizing.

Here's the rub: Convince the American viewing public that overweight can be overlooked. But first, convince yourself.

I'm with the old-fashioned group, and I'm only 27. My mother raised me to be polite, truthful, responsible, and hard working. I'm a tomboy at heart, but I "clean up real good" and I know how to be a lady when circumstance requires. Young people these days know nothing about being classy. It's depressing.

And what about intelligence or wisdom? Those used to be sought after traits, but nowadays it's perfectly acceptable to be an ignorant fool. In fact, if you're smarter and more genteel than the average bear, you get ridiculed.

And I never watched Seinfeld or Friends...M*A*S*H is more my type of humor. :biggrin2:

It's not a matter of overlooking; it's the confluence of 'fat' and 'vulgar and gross' in public perception that is the problem. Ask yourself this: if it was a skinny, gorgeous woman creating the characters she creates, would it be considered 'hilarious'? No. We've created a mythos that fat people are 'funny' in a mainly gross way--they burp, fart, act extremely vulgar, take pratfalls by the hundreds. This is men and women, but a heavy man CAN be taken seriously as an actor, on rare occasions. Not a heavy woman, and added to those 'typical' fat people actions listed above, she's usually sex-crazed. And audiences watch, laugh, and think, "Yeah, that's just how fat women are!" Expecting every fat actress to be a 'hilarious' fool is no different than expecting every POC actor or actress to follow the stereotypes assigned them by society. Yeah, they come in for a ****ton of stereotyping, as well, but we're at a point where there is at least some public outcry when it's too much. Crickets when Melissa McCarthy or Rebel Wilson play yet another overweight, vulgar role. The only heavier American actress who I can think of that has avoided much of this is Kathy Bates. I admire the hell out of her.

When I was younger and hanging out at the bars with my friend Tim, I used to tease him and say that we were these two guys! We used to sit and make wisecracks about the other occupants of the bars. It was hilarious!
I bet it was funny. Until I walked in. Hey KRF and Tim! No comments!;;D

The old dudes were just curmudgeonly in a sweet way. And I loved their old geezer wheezy laughs.

I am so tired of all the nit-picking on the MB lately.

Maybe it's just my headache talking, but sometimes I feel like asking Marsha to shut this place down during the weekends, like it used to be when everyone was moderated full time.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides, it's still Friday up here in the US. ;-D
