He is so handsome in Sunset Blvd. And I have come to realize, I tend to really like movies that are narrated -- Goodfellas, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, A Christmas Story, juno, The Help, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (animated), Double Indemnity, Clockwork Orange and I know there are more.
My favorite Holden, Stalag 17, is narrated.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Rocky, thought the second one was okay, and skipped the next sixteen. But I've been impressed with Creed since the first trailer, have liked the reviews I've read, including yours, and am looking forward to seeing it.

I guess I will watch Creed. It has good reviews.

I had to be in an area while part of it was being filmed, streets shut down. Outside of Philly in a really bad area. Chester, Pa. (don't go there) ever.

It was an old run down boxing rink. yesh. We drove by it, after the street opened again. But the people that I had to be with got to be extras in the movie, and said Stallone was very cool to them.

No idea what scene this could be, but I will look for it.

I watched "The Paperboy" last night with John Cusack, Nicole Kidman. Can't say it was great, but definitely one of the stranger movies I've seen in a while. Nicole Kidman performance was very good. All the characters in the movie are just....strange.
Be fair, where else are you going to see Nicole Kidman urinating in Zac Efron's face?

I love Geoffrey Rush! Not sure I'm up for a depressing movie, but I do like Mr. Rush. Did you see Quills? It's a bit crazy, but he is crazy good at being crazy. It's about the Marquis de Sade. I loved him in The Banger Sisters too.

Quills was great, but inaccurate. De Sade
just got old, fat, sick, and died--he didn't kill himself by deliberately choking on a crucifix, yeesh--
symbolism heavy-handed enough to win an arm wrestling competition.

But yeah, Geoffrey was GREAT in it.

Totally forgot about that part - I still don't remember it. It must have been a fun part to play. I think we've had a Marquis de Sade discussion somewhere out there sometime before this time...you and I. Maybe?

Had to have been me. Everyone else is afraid to talk about de Sade. Heh heh. Me, I find the nut fascinating--wicked, Libertine psycho, locked up, writing an endless screed against God and humanity, somehow keeping his head while everyone around him was losing theirs. Like a Hannibal Lecter of the French Revolution, what's not to dig?

I like that analogy! I think he was more self-obsessed than Lecter, but, yeah :)

Oh snap - I forgot about Pirates of the Caribbean. He might need his own thread.

And let's not talk about what happens when Nicole meets Cusack for the first time when he's in prison....... :a24: One will never be able to see any of these actors in this movie in the same way again. I think the only normal one in it was Zack Efron's character.

I've seen this 3 or 4 times but I recently found the blu-ray in the cheap bin and bought it. The blu-ray has quite a bit of grain and really looks like you are watching film. I love the way this looks on blu-ray.

Given the subject matter, I'm amazed at how riveting this movie is. In the wrong hands, this movie could have been boring as hell but it rockets along like a thriller. There are some great performances by the supporting actors, particularly Jason Robards.
