Yes, he was wonderful too. Have you read the book, blunt?
I read the book, danie - and loved it. The style is very abstract and run on, but Oskar was like that. It was a great, great book. I found it at a thrift store not long ago and bought it. I checked it out of the library the first time I read it. I'll watch the movie since you gave it a good review.

Watched The Best Offer (2013) on Netflix last night. Excellent movie, but it depressed the h*ll outta me. Geoffrey Rush was magnificent.
I love Geoffrey Rush! Not sure I'm up for a depressing movie, but I do like Mr. Rush. Did you see Quills? It's a bit crazy, but he is crazy good at being crazy. It's about the Marquis de Sade. I loved him in The Banger Sisters too.

CREED!!! :thumbs_up::thumbs_up:

Humongous "Rocky" fan here, I've anticipated this movie for sooooo long...and I bloody loved it! Sure it was cliched, and predictable, but isn't that what Rocky is all about? The new writers/directors are bringing the franchise to a whole new generation and I applaud that because the legend of Rocky should never die! Anyhoo, I need to go start my petition now demanding Sly wins the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar because he deserves it for not only taking a step back in a franchise he created and letting a new star shine, but he also made "elderly" Rocky seem real...bravo.
Me too - I'm glad to hear your review on. I love all the Rocky movies and am so looking forward to seeing this!

I forgot he was in The Banger Sisters! I haven't seen Quills - I'll have to keep my eyes open for it. Thanks! :)

I've seen Quills. I like Rush, too. He makes the less than great B-remake House on Haunted Hill fun. That's not easy to do.

I just looked it up - it's on Netflix! Yaaaaay! Hope to watch it tonight or tomorrow.
Be forewarned - the Marquis de Sade was the inspiration for the word "sadism", so it's a little out there. But it's got Kate Winslet too.

I forgot about that. Yes, he's such fun. He'd be good at a boring Christmas party.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Rocky, thought the second one was okay, and skipped the next sixteen. But I've been impressed with Creed since the first trailer, have liked the reviews I've read, including yours, and am looking forward to seeing it.

Lucy. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. Scifi with great special visual effects. The writing is imperfect in places yet kind of profound in others. I liked it a lot.

Spot on summary. I liked it more than I thought I would. I made fun of the title before I saw it, because I was a paleoanthropology buff in a past life, and didn't realize that that was exactly the connection.

As for my viewing:

Last night was an unplanned TCM night. I'd never seen Sunset Boulevard, and so we watched it. Good, creepy movie with some clever and inventive twists. Billy Wilder at his best. Gloria Swanson chewed up the screen.

Following that was Susan Slept Here. It was a fun and fluffy Debbie Reynolds romantic comedy romp, and after a while of romantic comedy romping, I got bored and ran some errands.

I came back in just a few minutes after In a Lonely Place had started. It's a Bogart thriller. Good flick. Kept our interest going. Bumpy writing at times, but the story carried it through.

I watched "The Paperboy" last night with John Cusack, Nicole Kidman. Can't say it was great, but definitely one of the stranger movies I've seen in a while. Nicole Kidman performance was very good. All the characters in the movie are just....strange.

Any movie with William Holden doesn't suck.
He is so handsome in Sunset Blvd. And I have come to realize, I tend to really like movies that are narrated -- Goodfellas, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, A Christmas Story, juno, The Help, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (animated), Double Indemnity, Clockwork Orange and I know there are more.
