CREED!!!
Humongous "Rocky" fan here, I've anticipated this movie for sooooo long...and I bloody loved it! Sure it was cliched, and predictable, but isn't that what Rocky is all about? The new writers/directors are bringing the franchise to a whole new generation and I applaud that because the legend of Rocky should
never die! Anyhoo, I need to go start my petition now demanding Sly wins the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar because he deserves it for not only taking a step back in a franchise he created and letting a new star shine, but he also made "elderly" Rocky seem real...bravo.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first
Rocky, thought the second one was okay, and skipped the next sixteen. But I've been impressed with
Creed since the first trailer, have liked the reviews I've read, including yours, and am looking forward to seeing it.
Lucy. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. Scifi with great special visual effects. The writing is imperfect in places yet kind of profound in others. I liked it a lot.
Spot on summary. I liked it more than I thought I would. I made fun of the title before I saw it, because I was a paleoanthropology buff in a past life, and didn't realize that that was exactly the connection.
As for my viewing:
Last night was an unplanned TCM night. I'd never seen
Sunset Boulevard, and so we watched it. Good, creepy movie with some clever and inventive twists. Billy Wilder at his best. Gloria Swanson chewed up the screen.
Following that was
Susan Slept Here. It was a fun and fluffy Debbie Reynolds romantic comedy romp, and after a while of romantic comedy romping, I got bored and ran some errands.
I came back in just a few minutes after
In a Lonely Place had started. It's a Bogart thriller. Good flick. Kept our interest going. Bumpy writing at times, but the story carried it through.
