The Sting is a classic, but not "old"! (Said the lady who is about as old as that movie) :a17:
It's old :) (I'm older than that film, but not by much). I'm not really a fan, but I CAN agree about Redford. I'm not all that impressed with blondes and I think he was pretty handsome. He's still a terribly interesting guy (if not so pretty)!

Watched "Primer" last night on Netflix. A low budget time travel movie that flew about six miles above my head. Well done and obviously a lot of thought went into the movie, but perhaps a bit too much thought for my non-engineer brain. Anyone seen this one?
I watched that one a couple of times last year. "A couple of times" because I was sure I didn't get it the first time--lol. I liked it better the second time, but it was definitely a brain buster.

Oh, I remember that one. Pretty decent flick. Speaking of movies about nihilistic 1980s kids with the word Edge in the title, might I suggest:

The River's Edge (1986). Early performances by Crispen Glover, Ione Skye, and *choke* Keanu Reeves. Dennis Hopper. Small town murder drama, pretty nasty. Good flick, with a few tracks by Slayer (hell yeah!). Scared the hell out of my parents back in the day--they thought our whole generation was turning into murderous Satan worshippers or something.
I liked that one! How about Permanent Record? Another Keanu flick, but one I liked a lot.

Wife & I watched Time Traveler's Wife last night. Have not read the story. Enjoyed the movie, thought the time sequences puzzling but enjoyable still, and now I'm wondering if I will ever read the story--I'd seen it here there everywhere--and the desire to read the story was there...now, maybe not so much. Anyone read the story? Worth a read?
It was okay. I liked it more than I liked the movie, though it was sad either way.

It's on my top 5 non SK books list.

We just watched Baz Lurhmann's Romeo + Juliet.
First time I've been able to sit through the whole thing. I love the idea of using the original centuries-old play as a script. I love Baz's movies. I love John Leguizamo. But for some reason I could never get more than 20 minutes into it before tonight. Maybe because we paid a few bucks since the daughter wanted to see it.
While I enjoyed the movie and I am the biggest DiCaprio fan, the whole time I watched it I kept thinking that Leo looked 14 years old next to Claire Danes looking like she was 18. He just looked so freaking young compared to her.

Thank you! Alert notice didn't come up...saw your response surfing non-log-in...a word I am now saying out loud. Non-log-in. Feel like I should be extending a hand toward the horizon, settlers standing before me, squinting, the sun in their eyes. Everyone nodding like they know what I'm talkin bout. Will put this one on my to-read list.

Johnny Got His Gun (1971) Timothy Bottoms, Jason Robards, Donald Sutherland

I saw the bio-pic, Trumbo. Then I re-read Johnny Got His Gun. So, I completed my Dalton Trumbo trifecta by watching this movie. I had never seen this movie before and I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw that Dalton Trumbo directed it (the only time he directed a movie). I was impressed because the movie was as disturbing and powerful as the book. This is an incredibly difficult story to put on the screen and Trumbo does it magnificently on what I'm sure was a very small budget. The ending of the movie was a bit different than the book but worked very well. On the dvd, there was a very interesting hour long "making of the movie" documentary that works as a companion to the bio-pic Trumbo. The dvd documentary covers quite a bit of ground that the bio-pic doesn't cover.

i'm not really a fan of men with blondes (god) but man, Robert Redford was so damn hot *permission to squeeeeee*

but i can choose Paul Newman over him (if who among them is my type)
reason? I LOVE HIS EYES, especially his eyes at this film
AND MOST ESPECIALLY, at that one scene where he wink at Robert Redford at the film, he's so damn cute there (ps. that happens after the scene at my avatar lol)

ps. and i'm starting to fangirl so i will end this in here lol

I actually like subtitles (strangely enough).

I like subtitles too. I always turn them on when watching dvds. If there are distractions and background noise going on, they are great. Also, now with blu-rays, the movie music will rock the foundation so when I adjust for that, the softer dialog can be hard to hear and the subtitles are great for that too.

Subtitles are a MUST for the hard of hearing, such as myself.

Well, here's one that the critics somehow passed up for best picture of 2015. Not sure how this one got by them. This one makes Sharknado look like the best movie EVER. I didn't know we had these bad boys to worry about but beware of the land sharks from The Natural State. GNT, please feel free to tee off on this one, but it may be too easy...LMAO..Ahhh, this is why I love this state...lol

HUSH

Very tense.
Meh. I can't follow you there, Anakin. It started to pretty good, but by half way through my daughter and I were alternating between yelling at the TV and giggling at our own terrible jokes about how unbelievably STUPID both the intended victim and the killer were. By the end I was rooting for him to finish the job. :p
