Watched Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, and Matthew Fox - who was near unrecognizable.

A very quirky western about a group of people kidnapped by a clan of cannibals. It takes a long time to get the horror parts but when they do, they sure don't hold back.

Worth a watch.

Paranoid Park (2007) directed by Gus Van Sant

There are two Gus Van Sants, one is the mainstream movie director (Goodwill Hunting) and the other is the art house movie director (Drugstore Cowboy, Elephant). Paranoid Park is from the art house Gus. I loved this movie but many will find this movie slow and tedious. The movie is constructed like Elephant or Last Days with long scenes and minimal dialog. If you pay attention there is a lot going on in the empty spaces.

Paranoid Park is about a skateboarder who accidentally killed a security guard in a train yard and didn't report it and the police are beginning to focus on him in their investigation.

I love this movie. Great dialogue and interesting characters. Kurt Russell is one of my all time favorites and I 'm glad to see him make a comeback.

Watched "Daylight's End" last weekend starring Lance Henriksen and a guy named Johnny Strong. It's a post apocalyptic movie featuring a hybrid zombie/vampire type creature. Not the best movie I've seen but what was impressive, and I know this is a weird thing to comment on, was the actors tactics when using their rifles. Whoever trained the actors trained them realistically, not Hollywood gun play tactics. I saw a lot of small unit tactics that were very realistic and everyone seemed comfortable with their rifles. I'd give the movie an overall 7 but it was some of the best maneuvering and covering tactics I've seen in a movie in quite a while. I'm curious if they used former military or police personnel for their training. Also, the movie is set and filmed in Dallas, TX which I thought was cool. I do like Texas:)

Under your bed
Red Dust (1932). A Gable and Halow flick, pre-code and quite watchable. Jean Harlow as her usual 'hooker with the heart of gold' deal, and Clark Gable as a rubber plantation owner who'd rather break up Mary Astor's marriage than treat Harlow's character with any respect. Made me mad after awhile; I just wanted to jump into the flick and slap old Big Ears around some. Funniest line? Harlow cleaning out the birdcage, says, "whataya been eating? Cement?".

I'd give it four outta five bird droppings.

Star trek. Was ok. Not as good as the last 2. But did get to see the gunslinger in there. Still not sure how their gonna pull off having a African American play roland. How is his relationship with Odetta gonna work being the same race. They r gonna have to omit pretty much the whole book 2, drawing of the three. Which just happen to be my favorite so far of the 5 I have read

Okay, was Jared Leto amazing?

Wow, I actually don't know how to answer that question, but I will give it a try. Leto was the only reason I paid money to watch this film in cinema, as I was hugely disappointed by Hack Snyder's previous two efforts. I did enjoy Leto in this film, but quite a bit of his scenes were cut so you will be left wanting more. That being said, bear in mind that this character has been around for decades, so each actor brings a different iteration. Cesar Romero was dead on for the campy 60s version in the comics, Nicholson played the classic version we all know, Mark Hamill is my favourite, and Heath Ledger was the mentally deranged (and possibly autistic) wildcard. Leto decides to bring Mr J into the contemporary world, playing him as a hip-hop gangster (I'm sorry but I refuse to use the stupidly misspelled version of that word). How much you enjoy his performance will be influenced by whether you like this interpretation, but Leto gives it his manic best.

I can't recall all of the movies I've watched since I last posted, but here are a few of the most recent ones:

Eye In the Sky
I admit, this was only on my watchlist because Alan Rickman was in it (not a big enough role, in my opinion. I miss him.).
I didn't love it, but I didn't feel like it was a waste of my time either.

The Gift
I didn't have as high hopes for this one, but was pleasantly surprised. The begining was so cliched I nearly turned it off, glad I stuck it out though.

The Visit
First, let me say I am a fan of M. Night, and the tralier was great, so I had very high hopes for this one (but same goes for The Happening *shudder*). I enjoyed it, not as much as I thought I would...it was very predictable and boring at times. It had a great "twist", but I figured that out within a few minutes (I also guessed the ending to The Sixth Sense very quickly and that became.a favorite).

River's Edge
This was hubby's choice. I am not a Crispin Glover fan at all so I basically slept off and on throughout the entire film.

Asylum
Cheesy "horror" that I actually liked because it cheered me up with it's corniness when I really needed a mood boost.

Wow, you figured out the ending to The Sixth Sense early? I am usually pretty good at staying ahead of the story but that one got me. Fight Club, too.

I knew as soon as they showed Bruce Willis' character wearing the same shirt he wore the night he was shot...also, I knew there was a huge twist, so I was on the lookout for what it could be.

The ending to Fight Club shocked me though.
