We watched Cell. (Amazon)
When a mysterious cell phone signal causes apocalyptic chaos, an artist is determined to reunite with his young son in New England.

My family enjoyed it and it wasn't bad but it certainly isn't the book. Loosely based on the book. LOOSELY.

Lights Out (Theater)
When a mysterious cell phone signal causes apocalyptic chaos, an artist is determined to reunite with his young son in New England.

We loved it. :) The people in the theater were awesome. When it got suspenseful, the audience would get soooo quiet. No talking, chewing, soda slurping...holding our breath waiting for the reveal/scare.
(The cool thing, I lost power that night so I was all alone with Lights Out.)

Last night I watched a movie called The Counselor, which I had very high hopes for. It was directed by Ridley Scott, starred Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt and was based off a novel by Cormac McCarthy. It's about a drug cartel lawyer who decides to get involved with a drug deal to make some quick money, but in typical Cormac McCarthy fashion, things spiral out of control in the most depressing ways possible. I was very disappointed in this movie. It nearly bored me to tears and I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. Good thing I only paid 25 cents for the dvd.

Pat Garret and Billy the Kid (1973). Sam Pekinpah, yer bugger! Oh, holy hell, this here flick'll put hair on yer head. We talkin James Coburn as Pat, Kris Kristofersson as Billeh, Bob Dylan as the knife throwing Alias, Slim Pickens, Jack Elam, Harry Dean Stanton, buncha otherns. Anybody what digs the Kid, oughtta dig this. Me, I'm what ya might call a William H. Bonnie freak, and I dig the hell outta this flick. Oh, maybe ol Kris is miscast as the twerpy lil gunslinger, but it's still like great. And James Coburn...my gawd...do they get any more badass than that? No. And, jeziz pleziz, Bob Dylan does the entire musical soundtrack! If' yez don't dig that, then FINE! Step the hell BACK, son...

Knock knock knockin on heaven's door...

Digging Montgomery Clift day on the TCM. Took me awhile to get past his eyebrows, but now he's one of my faves. He's the real deal. Got ol Raintree County all set to record tonight. Good Civil War flick. No Gone widda Wind, but very watchable. Shoulda called it Gone with the Face, if you know what I mean. Poor Monty!

Never seen Raintree County, I was holding out to one day read the book first. Guess I'll record it, too. Weren't Liz and Monty in a few other movies? A Place In the Sun...something like that?

I wanna read the book as well.

Yeah, Monty and Liz did Place in the Sun, Suddenly, Last Summer, and Raintree. He was gonna do Reflections in a Golden Eye, but, WHOOPS! He died. Sad.

Room (2015)

The film opens a mother and son playing in a small room. You soon find out that this room is all they have as they are being held captive. The mother had been kidnapped 7 years earlier when she was 17 and her 5 year old son was born during that time and he knows of nothing of life outside of this shed he was born in. The captor brings them food and supplies and spends the night with them many nights. The mother comes up with a plan to get them out. You have to watch it if you want to know more. Incredible movie.

=D I loved The Misfits. Made me think of McMurtry a little.

Can't believe my son actually watched this'n with me. I couldn't even get em to watch King Kong last night. He asked me, "what's this about?" Said, "well, in a roundabout way, it's about some Cowboys that catch horses to sell to dog food factories." Wonder what made him wanna watch this...oh. Wait. Norma Jean!

That's my boy!

Just watched him in "A Place in the Sun" with Elizabeth Taylor, Shelley Winters and Raymond Burr (1951 black and white) - not a bad flick
I was surprised they found him guilty at the end - thought he would get off
