Sorry - could not resist - I think she was in American Werewolf in London as the nurse - that was a good flick!

Oh yes. Love me some Jenny. Ever since that movie. That is a damn good flick. But what ever happened to the Dr. Pepper Kid, David Naughton? I'm sure he's still around somewhere, maybe running naked through Picadilly Circus and stealing balloons from creepy British kids...

Watched Trainwreck and thought it was pretty good. I liked Bill Hader in the more dramatic but still funny role.
After Amy Schumer was on Last Comic Standing years ago, she and three others did their comic show in my town and I saw her there...have a pic of me with her somewhere...but can't find it. Anyway, I tend to like her in the childish way of "I met her so I feel irrationally close to her now."

Saw the Absolutely Fabulous movie starring those gems of comedy Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley. It's a very funny movie!! You don't really need to be a fan of the BBC show to enjoy it either.
I missed my chance to see it last week! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. I recorded 34 episodes during the marathon. Am reliving the early 90s. Such fun. I was so young. My chin was still taut and my eye brows were higher.

Eternal Sunshine of A Spotless Mind. I think this may be a favorite. I love Kaufman's screenplays and characters. The director really makes the viewer as disoriented as the protagonist; great POV storytelling. I had a major crush on Kate Winslett when I first saw this.

I have never watched these.
You really should try them. It took me two and a half episodes before I even laughed because what these two women do is so utterly appalling and so very UN-politically correct, and yet thru the fantastic acting skills of both Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley that you end up caring about and loving them both. 'Eddie' is so very much UNself-aware that she is such an emotional void and so wrapped up in herself and all 'Patsy' wants to do is take drugs and have sex with any guy available. They are the yin and yang to each other. It's not a show that I'd watch with anyone under the age of 18.

The Sea Wolf (1941). Michael Curtiz does it again (holy moly, the man is God!) with Edward G. Robinson as the wolf in question, the always stellar Ida Lupino, and one of my faves, John Garfield. Adaption of a Jack London book I haven't read but now plan to. TCM 'Summer under the Stars' all day tribute to Eddie G. If you think the guy was only capable of 'n'yaa, see' Chief Wiggum, well, Sonny Jim, yer an idiot. This was a powerful performance. Fog still haven't lifted from my movie room.

And then I finished off:

Heaven's Gate (1980). Anyone familiar with big time Hollywood flops oughtta know this one. Sure, it went over budget/schedule, and famously destroyed whatever freedoms maverick 1970s directors used to have, but you know what? I dug the HELL out of this flick. I mean, GREAT performances from a cast that includes, dig this, Kris Kristofferson, Jeff Bridges, Christopher Walken, John Hurt, Joseph Cotten, Brad Dourif...and more. Cats used to gripe about it being over long, and, at fifteen minutes shy of four hours (cut down from an original cut of over six hours), sure...but, fa gods sake, in this day in age of people binge watching entire seasons of Walking Dead, they oughtta be able to sit through something like this. Ain't like you gotta watch it all in one sitting. Grow up. I'll tell yez, the production values alone make this worth watching...the goddam film is georgeous! Every scene looks like something out of an N.C. Wyeth painting. Feels like Roland in Mejis, story wise. Don't listen to the haters. This is a great flick.

Ice Age: Collision Course - OK but the series feels like it's running out of steam.
Star Trek: Beyond - enjoyable, but I remain confused about the villain's motives and plan
Jason Bourne - aka Chasin' Bourne: great action, negligible plot
The BFG - a delight, with a stunning motion-capture and voice performance from Mark Rylance

Heaven's Gate needs to be seen in it's intended version. The short version makes no sense and I can understand why it was not well received. But the correct (long) version is an excellent flick.

Another great movie that was hacked to death for the American theatrical release is Once Upon A Time In America. If you can find the version that is close to 4 hours, that is the European theatrical release that Sergio meant to be seen. The American theatrical release was hacked to just over 2 hours. And just like Heaven's Gate, the short version makes no sense.

Made enough sense to me, which is surprising considering how drunk I was. What really impressed me was the production values and scenery. They really created an entire world for this flick--you can see all that money on the screen. Will try finding the full version. All TCM showed was the 3hr, 45min version.

Dig Leone's Once Upon A Time in America, yep. Wish someone would find all the edited footage from the Liz and Dick version of Cleopatra. I've read that flick was hacked-up too.

The 3 hour 45 minute version of Heaven's Gate is the right one. The short version I meant was the original theatrical version which I think was hacked down to under 2 hours. The < 2 hour version is the one I was talking about that didn't make sense. It's been a long time but I think they tried to release the long version first but it wasn't doing well so they cut it up (not sure how that was supposed to help).

Well, I've read that the initial director's cut actually was 6hrs plus.
