Oh, wow!
Sorry about that.
Was that you, Doc, that said Breaking Away wasn't about cycling?

The Judge. Robert Downey, Jr does his usual fast-talking snarky thing, with Robert Duvall and Billy Bob Thornton. Not bad. I usually despise courtroom dramas but this one ran a bit deeper. Was digging all the Indiana stuff--until I found out most of it was filmed in Massachusetts (der...). Must be hard acting with Downey--the sucker is so fast and sharp, practically stepping on everyone else's lines.
Ayuh, that was me that recommended it. Let me know what you think.......Finished Breaking Away today (yes, Pucker, you're right. That became clear.) and now I'm recording Lost Highway. KRF recommended it, I believe.
The Witch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
9/10
Holy sh*t, this movie was good. I loved the cinematography, the score, the direction and the acting. One of the best movies I have seen that came out last year.
I couldn't figure out if I really liked this movie, or it was my Downey crush. I tend to like whatever he does. Can you believe he's 51? Looks about 25 on that bicycle. Okay, I'll be quiet now.The Judge. Robert Downey, Jr does his usual fast-talking snarky thing, with Robert Duvall and Billy Bob Thornton. Not bad. Have you watched
The Invitation
Swimming Pool
The Minus Man
Thoughts, please?
Birdman - Michael Keaton gives a virtuoso performance as an actor known best for a superhero role trying to prove he is capable of greater things while his inner demons tear down his ability to diffferentiate between reality and fantasy. Keaton heads a great cast with Ed Norton and Emma Stone as fellow standouts.
The direction of this movie is so fantastic that it becomes distracting because there are so many uninterrupted shots that made me focus on catching when the next cut would show up.
Love the ending as it is one that is open to interpretation.
Agree. I wouldn't watch it again as I stated earlier, but Keaton gives a terrific performance. After seeing it in the cinema, my full review included:
I have seen it called pretentious. There are those who love it. But it is possible to admire it without necessarily liking it very much, and some may find it utterly bewildering. All of these are absolutely valid reactions to it, and I felt all of them at different times as the movie progressed. But the one thing I can say with certainty is that it is completely original, and anyone with a love of cinema should experience it.
This could totally be a critique of Mulholland Drive.....After seeing it in the cinema, my full review included:

After I read your post, I rented it and just finished watching it. I thought it was awesome. The depiction of 17th Century New England was very authentic. So:
what's your take on the witch? I think it was all in their minds and caused by their extremely narrow religious views. The movie can be interpreted many different ways but I'm thinking it was all in their heads.
