Watching Intolerance (1916). Yeesh, this epic is a hundred years old. By the oh so 'tolerant' director of Birth of a Nation, D.W. Griffith (derf). Why I torture myself like this I dunno. Who can tolerate an almost four hour long silent movie? Maybe it's my insomnia I'm trying to treat.

Anyhoo, four vaguely connected stories spanning various centuries. I'm mainly concerned with the Babylonian segments, just to see those giant sets. What gets me about most silent movies is, you see the characters obviously rattling off lines and lines of dialogue to each other, but then the narrative cards will just read, like, "oh no!".

I know. I love the silent movies. I think their sets are unique and elaborate for the times.

And the costume fill is all him--lol. I read an article that said the costumers had to take the padding out of the suit design because he was already so jacked that it just looked weird.

Wow. Ol' DP is sure getting some love from us SKMBers!

Really kinda surprised so many of you dug it, seeing as how raunchy and violent it is. No offense, but...a lot of you folks are pretty squeamish.

Anyhoo...

It sure beat the hell out of that pathetic attempt at Wade Wilson they did in X-Men: Origins. And Green Lantern...just, ugh.

I'm going to need to see this. Just wish that I knew more about the characters, so that I could appreciate it more.

Are we on the same MB? :Oo:

Well, you know...there are some cats here that can't stomach some good old blood and guts. Nothing wrong with that, but this is the Stephen King site, after all.

Anyhoo...

Watching The Cuckoos (1931). A Wheeler and Woolsey comedy featuring their usual cutie-pie girl-Friday Dorothy Lee. What? You never heard of Wheeler and Woolsey? Where you been? The 21st century? Derf. Don't feel bad--I'd never heard of em myself until a coupla years ago. Funny stuff. Robert Woolsey is a kinda cross between Groucho Marx and George Burns, and Burt Wheeler is...well, Burt Wheeler. Can't really compare him to anybody...funny little fella.

Another thing about this here Disney Davy Crockett flick (so popular with the kids in the 50s): man, there sure is a whole lotta drinkin and shootin goin on--I mean, for a Disney flick. Just shows to go ya how much times have changed.

I wanna drink a 'Mike Finch Special' and try shootin my own hat off backwards with the aid of the barroom mirror. Yes sir. Times have changed.

Nowadays Davy wouldn't even carry a musket, wouldn't drink, and would probably be a chick.

Morgan - girl created with artificial DNA: thriller with interesting subtext about what makes a person human
Brotherhood - gritty urban British thriller, US viewers will need subtitles.
Sausage Party - typical Seth Rogan, only CGI. Food having sex. Sleazy, infantile, crude, often very funny. Adults only.
