Last night I was tired and bored, so I put on Lifetime Movie channel (my first mistake). Watched a movie starring Eric Roberts (whom I liked very much at one time) so I watched it even though the title should have tipped me off..."My Doctor The Stalker"!! It was so bad, I actually laughed quite a bit at things that were supposed to be serious and scary. Then what did I do? Watched the next movie, "My Doctor The Stalker: The Return"!!! Funnier than the first, and they actually left the ending open so another one can be made!! I don't know what I was thinking.....:eyebrow: :a11: :hammer:

I've heard the movie is bad but once in a while you get in the mood for a bad monster flick and I was in the mood. The movie exceeded my expectations by being so spectacularly bad that I can't understand how this ever got released. The movie just isn't bad but it's really weird too. There are scenes where it seems the filmmaker was trying to do something artsy with the movie. For example there are these strange still shots mixed in with some of the action (for lack of a better word ;-D) sequences. Obviously, this movie was just a money grab to capitalize on the success of Jaws but with the name actors that are in it, you think someone would have tried a little harder for a better movie. I don't think I've ever seen Henry Fonda do a worse performance than this one. Saying he phoned it in would be a compliment.

I'm a huge Eric Roberts fan, so I'd have probably given it a try.... but Lifetime movies are so very bad in general. I think of them as Afterschool Specials for sad, bored women.

I remember seeing Eric Roberts in "The Coca Cola Kid" back in the mid 80s - I didn't realize he was Julia Roberts brother - looks like her career took off and his just stalled

Going to watch Deadpool tonight to see what all the hype is about (well, that and the chance to see Ryan Reynold's sausage and beans....).
:lol:Just what I needed to hear!

Thanks for a good laugh

I'm making myself go to the gym in about 20 minutes or so even though I am on a week off - you make me laugh - I needed that!

Yes, he was a great actor at one time but in these two movies he was way too cheesy and over the top with the psycho schtick (which he is usually great at). I think his bad boy image/actions and drug problems probably cost him some great opportunities. This was the first thing I had seen him in since Dr. Drew Celebrity Rehab, but he is said to be clean and sober now.

Dang it, I saw that was gonna be on but forgot to DVR it. Sometimes you just gotta check yer brains at the door and dig a bad monster movie.

I reads that part of the problem was that they spent 1 mil (a lot of money in 1977) for a giant mechanical octopus and the first time they put it in the water, they lost it. ;-D So the octopus scenes were not what they were originally intended to be. Also, I read that the artsy stuff I mentioned was because the Italian director had some art house tendencies. There are some very interesting visual shots in this movie. There is a 2 minute crane shot of a bunch of people standing on the shore that is visually awesome but I have no idea what it has to do with the story (you'll know it when you see it). It's very strange.
