You've inspired me to pull out Frankenstein, muskrat :) That's my favorite of the original Universal monsters. Reminds me, I need to find a copy of The Invisible Man, too--that's my son's favorite, and Universal must have caught on to the unauthorized posting on YT, because it's gone.

Me and Nottie just watched that'n, and Bride. TCM just did a Karloff marathon, and my DVR is fulla Universal Horrors. Love em all...even the cheesy ones.

There was some stuff to savour in the Tom Cruise version - the opening attack in New Jersey, that great shot which wound over and round the speeding car, the ferry sequence, some great Spielberg moments (the bodies floating down the river, the shredded clothes raining out of the night sky...).

And, yes, Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin were profoundly irritating. I bet he was glad to hand 'em back to their mum.

I'll go along with some great effects, but I just couldn't get past the irritating kids. And of course Tom runs a lot in this movie, but then I think he runs in EVERY movie. Those shots I liked.;;D

Introducing LilMan to IT right now (and hoping I don't regret it later -lol)

I introduced my lil man (little? Hell, he weighs more'n me now!) to IT a couple months ago. He seemed to dig it.

Speaking of made for tv King, el Rey network is having a King marathon starting, uhh...I think they said September 12th, with The Stand, The Tommyknockers, and The Langoliers. Ride with the King!

Grandma and I had avoided Deadpool, and then I watched it on a plane that was going over the pond. Just the opening credits, and I was hooked.

I finally got Grandma, a sweet, gentle soul, to agree to renting it. She was alternatively entertained, confused, horrified, and entertained again. For me, the only thing keeping it from a grand slam was the buckets of gore. For Grandma, it was that and the over-the-top vulgarity at times (she laughed with some of that aforementioned horror at the "fondle" comment toward the beginning of the movie). But we enjoyed it tremendously and are still talking about it.

I found a TV movie of Night Flier on YT the other day that I'm going to try to watch. I didn't know they made a movie of that story.

Finished watching last night and still have no idea what I even saw. I suspect the folks who made the film were on something.
Bronson himself (not his real name, of course, and I can't remember what he's changed it to now) is trippy (and insane). I think the movie was sort of an emulation of what it might be like inside his head.

CHUCK NORRIS VS COMMUNISM

More of a documentary than movie, and all in subtitles. A fascinating look at illegal VHS American films in repressive Romania in the mid 80’s. Just about all of them were dubbed by a woman named Irina Nistor, who became a cult figure. It is believe these VHS cassettes that were shown in private households contributed to the fall of the communist dictatorship in Romania. And they were just about the only means for Romanians to get a glimpse of what was going on in the world outside of Romania.

Puncture. I've seen this once before, and I liked it for the second time :) It's easy to see why Chris Evans named this as one of the movies he's proudest of having made. He's so firmly Captain America now that I think people forget that he's a good actor as well as being handsome and heroic.
