Here's a tough one...

If you had to choose between being blind or being deaf, which would you choose and why?

I'd choose blindness. I just don't think I could exist without music. Music touches my heart, mind and soul and life would be wrong without it for me.
I think i has to go with deaf. For me not being able to read would be worse than not being able to enjoy music. And i'm not fond of soundbooks.

I have really bad hearing, even on my cdl it states I have to have a hearing device in at least one ear, gods! It's terrible to constantly have to ask my husband to translate what people are saying to me, but not being able to see would be even worse (for him and for me) than the hearing loss.

How about some more questions?

1. If you could choose another time and place in which to live, where and when would it be? Give a few reasons why.

2. Is there a missed opportunity you'd like another shot at?

3. Setting aside your current belief system, describe the afterlife you would love to see.

My answers:

1. Hawai'i under the rule of King Kalakaua, the restoration of Hawaiian dance and music. Learning to dance in a serious hula halau would be quite the experience! King Kalakaua's royal court was said to be the perfect blend of Hawaiian and Anglo elegance. Also, maybe I could talk him into not letting the haoles have quite so much power.

2. Yes. When I moved away from my crazy roommates at age 19 (there's that number again), I left behind the guitar one of them was buying with me. It was a 1978 Gibson Les Paul 50th Anniversary model. Given the chance, I would've taken it with me. It's painful to think about.

3. I'd love to see an afterlife where everyone is happy, so there is no kind of Hell, no separation from the rest of humanity. One would be reunited with loved ones and pets who have gone before. All questions would be answered and mysteries unveiled. We would dwell in our perfect place, with our favorites of everything only a thought away. With no more linear time, we could go see anything we wanted, past or future. And the Divine would be shown to be all of us together, all pieces of a Creator which has no name nor gender nor preference of books, rites or rules.

1. I'd fancy being a penny rag scribbler for Sam Johnson's Grub Street.

2. Should have went to the Kubert School of comic art.

4. Rock and roll heaven.

1 would b to write.

2. No one. Envy is one of the deadly sins.

3. Tough one but no. Once u go down that road ur fudged. 1 life equals all life. Just let it ride and let the chips fall where they may. But never stop making moves to try and make this world a better place. Most of us can't effect the world on a macro level. Were 1 of many. But we can make a huge difference on the micro level.

1. If you could choose another time and place in which to live, where and when would it be? Give a few reasons why.-The 50's. Reason being, I was brought up in a manner that would have suited that time, plus there was much less worry about those things that haunt our daily lives now-crime, drugs etc. Love the music and the vehicles. Just living the nostalgia if that makes any damn sense.

2. Is there a missed opportunity you'd like another shot at?-becoming a Doctor.

3. Setting aside your current belief system, describe the afterlife you would love to see.-a cabin by a quiet lake, but with access to things I could never had afforded.....

The Old West. I'd like to see the country as it was back then. Maybe wrestle a grizzly bear or learn to live off the land up in the Rockies somewhere. No cell phones...a little slower pace would be nice.

2. Is there a missed opportunity you'd like another shot at? Lots of them but one that stands out is that I made it down to the final two candidates for an FBI intelligence analyst slot back in 2010 and the other guy was selected over me. It was an almost six month long application process and I still don't know why they chose him over me other than my age may have been a factor. I'd love another shot at that position.

3. Setting aside your current belief system, describe the afterlife you would love to see. I'd like to open my eyes, look in the mirror and see Roland Deschain, make sure both revolvers were loaded, and head out on the path of the beam.

Chatham Islands prior to the 19th Century. A place of peace, harmony, hedonism, and good weather. Actually, a bunch of the Polynesian realms sound pretty idyllic. I just don't want to end up as a sacrifice or war trophy or something.

2. Is there a missed opportunity you'd like another shot at?

Yeah. I'd like to go back to high school and college, but this time with a good work ethic.

3. Setting aside your current belief system, describe the afterlife you would love to see.

Noncorporeal form, unbound by the restraints of physics, able to travel anywhere, everywhere, and learn anything, or everything, in this universe - or multiverse, if it exists.

My first impulse is to go into the past--American Westward Expansion, Tudor England, etc. The trouble with that is I want a modern life expectancy! In either of those, at 50 I'd already likely be dead.

2. Is there a missed opportunity you'd like another shot at?
Nah. I have missed opportunities, but the roads I took instead taught me things that I needed to learn. I'm good.

3. Setting aside your current belief system, describe the afterlife you would love to see.
Peace.
