....getting ready to embark on a paperback given to me by my buddy KRF, entitled "Werewolf Among Us"....an early sci-fi novel by a young Dean Koontz.....
I read somewhere that he wrote a bunch of other books under pseudonyms way back in the day and that those books were very different from what he's known for?

....yeah buddy, he had a ton of those-David Axton, Leonard Chris, Brian Coffey, Deanna Dwyer, K.R. Dwyer, John Hill, Leigh Nichols, Anthony North, Richard Paige, Owen West,Aaron Wolfe.....many of which he has since re-issued under his own name, but not all....he wrote prolifically early in his career, mostly in science fiction, but to pay his bills he even got into erotica for a while....his list of titles exceeds even Uncle Steve's, someday I would like to have all of his back titles......

Finally started Floating Dragon by Straub. It's been on the shelf for awhile now, and I just started it this afternoon. I'm not very far into it, but digging the set-up. I can see where this is going, and am intrigued.
I got one of these from Cemetery Dance. On my shelf along with a bazillion other books needing read.

You will love this if you loved The Talisman for sure. It is my favorite book by Straub. I re-read it every other year. Good reading!!!!!

I just finished a The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy of 2015. You would think with 2 editors vetting over 80 short stories that they could pick 20 really tight stories in the end. Still, I enjoyed many of them. They ranged from wonderful and thought provoking (Karen Russell's Bad Graft) to interesting idea that was just not quite a story (there's a number of these) to downright lame (Neil Gaiman's How the Marquis Got His Coat Back). I would definitely recommend the book to fans of these genres, especially in short story form. There's enough to savor and even the mediocre stories are worth a read if for nothing but the ideas put forth by the author. Also, there is an end section with a short bio of each author followed by a short commentary by the author on his or her story.

Last night I started LaRose by Louise Erdrich. I have not read Erdrich in a number of years but what I have read I liked very much. I'm only about 25 or so pages into LaRose, but I'm hooked already. Erdrich is an intelligent writer and her subject matter (human relationships usually based within the Native American Indian community) plays to the heart in so many ways. She's an author one has to savor and digest slowly to fully experience. I'm so glad I started this book and rediscovered her writing.
