22- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) – This one is probably my favorite, most likely because I saw it in the theater. It spooked me then, and still does. I still don’t like driving alone in the dark down an empty road in case the boogey man is under my car!!

I went to bed after that. I also watched the Dolphins get slaughtered (by their own hands, mostly). That was pretty scary!

11. The Strangers (2008) - 7/10. I like the slow build up and the real life creepiness aspect.

12. Saw II - 4/10

13. Saw III - 6/10. I think this one is my favorite after the first one

14. Saw IV - 5/10

15. Saw V - 5/10. First time to re-watch the Saw franchise.

16. Byzantium - I really enjoyed this one. Vampire flick. Well-made movie. 7/10.

29. The Atticus Institute (FTV)
Faux documentary about 1970's government funded psychic research team that discovers a possessed woman and ultimately attempts to exploit her powers. If you lived through the 70's you might remember seeing grainy footage of supposed "actual psychic phenomena" on shows like "In Search Of", where people made matchsticks move and bent spoons with the powers of their minds. This fake documentary asks you to suppose that was real, and what would happen if the government attempted to control a demonic entity inside a person. It's a potentially interesting idea, but the execution here is only average. It's a shame because there are a few good actors here but they are given silly things to say and do. Never quite convinces.

3 out of 5 stars.

Got Cat People on the TCM. Original version, of course. Kinda watchin, but hard when I gotta click this dang pad.

Oh, tomorrow at 11:15 am TCM is doing The Fearless Vampire Killers, 1967. Great Polanski flick, comic horror stuff featuring lovely Sharon Tate. Great flick, trust me. Got my DVR set, I suggest you all do the same.

Say what you want about Polanski, the man is a great filmmaker.

TCM got horror all DAY tomorrow, just sayin.

Rockin that lovable old Hungarian junkie Lugosi in the immortal White Zombie. Not my first viewing, no. Love Bela...those damn eyes...yeesh, too many close-ups of those peepers and I'll be a zombie. A white zombie, yes...but don't hold that against me.

Glad Rob Zombie didn't direct THIS one. If he had, Lugosi would have a big Manson beard and say the F-word in every line of dialogue. And Shari Moon would show her moon...(well, that last part would be okay).

Tick Tock...next is Coppola's Dementia 13. And then, Fearless Vampire Killers...

Postscript: Man, this HD restored version of W.Z. looks great, much better than the cheapie old grainy VHS copy I had as a kid.

18. Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990) Anthony Perkins, Henry Thomas

I liked this prequel but it could have been much better. First off, let me say that the Bates Motel TV show is superior to this movie. This movie is divided into two stories, the current Norman Bates and the young Norman Bates. The current Norman Bates is telling the story of young Norman through flashbacks. I would have preferred that the entire movie be only the young Norman story but that would have created a problem because the 50+ year old Anthony Perkins could not have been in it. The young Norman story is what is worth watching. Henry Thomas plays young Norman and does a great job. When you compare the Henry Thomas Norman to the Freddie Highmore Norman, they are very different but I like them both. The Freddie version is a much more confident and forceful personality and the Henry version is much more shy and introverted. 6/10
