I see a look through my yarn stash in my future with mandalas in mind. :)
Perfect patterns for scrap yarns. Suggestions: crosheen gives a totally different look/ thinner yarns, like baby soft have a greater stretch. I've used all types of yarns, each different final look. Also, make sure your completed piece leaves plenty of room for pull to the hoop. The tighter the end product the better the appearance. ( more open ) . I've loose tied thread at 12/3/6/9 just to "hold" the piece as I pull toward the hoop. Have fun.

Yes, the ones I made are simply sc onto the inner part of an embroidery hoop, then the top places over it and tightened. *** you can vary the rows if you have hoops larger than in the pattern.

This link has many ideas, including payterns

Spidey, you've inspired me to give crochet another go. I'm self taught, so it might be a year or so before I have anything worth showing, but I loved the North Sea Mandala and am going to attempt it.

Oh cool! I hope you share when you complete them! Have you found it to be easy or hard to do?
The hardest part was choosing what to do. It took a time or two to fit the initial print out to the size of the work board I chose. I'm thinking if they turn out good, that I'll have my uncle frame them for me. No glass, just simple wood frame.

Oh definitely. That would really just showcase what you did.

Here is an excellent tutorial done in specific pictures and simple language. You can use any color combos you like, or as shown at the end, a solid color. Again different yarns will give different appearances. It's quick and easy.

here is the pattern done in variegated yarn.

I agree with what others have said, these look totally professional! I have seen quilts made with T-shirts, but never pillowcases. Neat idea!

So beautiful! I cannot crochet to save my life, but when I see projects like yours I find myself desperately wanting to try again!

Give it a try, use the link in my post # 2889. The lady gives pictures and step by step instructions.
