Here the birds are bonkers!! They are singing so loud that they outvoice cars and trucks on the road. I guess they are happy to see the snow disappear. Saw my first flower for the year today.

Her gusty blows took down one of my 30 foot pine trees by the roots. It lays stuck into another tree and will be problematic to get down when the snow clears. I ain't trustin' Mother Nature for nothin'. :)
That wasn't Mother Nature! That was her wicked, black sheep of the family type, son Diablo. Yor name is very similar, any relation? ;;D

Now Kurben is getting in on the act! My word, what is the world coming to. :p

Off topic, but I watched a documentary recently and thought of you. It was about the Greeks restoring the Parthenon. I can understand preserving it in order to protect from further deterioration, but restoring it is another matter. As an archaeologist what do you think of restoring ancient structures, Kurben?

Depends on how far the restoring goes. What Evans did with Knossos (Crete) i'm against because much of it is based on his guesses and his vision on how it should have looked like. Proofs were absent. I dont know how far the greeks will go with Parthenon but some restoring might be in order since we here have many idiots that used it to try rockclimbing in and destroyed parts. Here we have recent photos so to restore some parts (parts that we know what they looked like), that i think is ok, to go further and try to make it look like when it was newly built or somehing should be wrong.

Another stupid storm is moving in. So much for snow showers...2-4 inches and 35 mph winds. Phooey. We are just in the "advisory" category right now, so maybe it will miss us. Is spitting little ice balls right now.

Eek!

The Canada geese are flying overhead. It's very sunny out. I decided to put an extremely moldy orange into one of my composters and I think once things warm up a bit I'll hit them with some warm water to get things going again.

Today I heard a sort of scratching sound and thought it was coming from the ceiling in the kitchen. (Thoughts of animal intruders in my attic again :O_O::facepalm_smiley: ) - but it wasn't that serious. Turns out the dry vines on the side of the house were banging against the stucco due to high winds here today.

The wind is blowing at around 20 km an hour.

They're predicting minus 5 C and going down to a low of minus 14.
