DiO'Bolic -- how is the weather looking for the "great excavation" ?
LOL. 77 degrees on Friday and 75 degrees on Saturday. I got a call on Monday that with the two nice days forecast they were going to get our pool in this week. I also was told I had to get 5 tons of pool sand delivered this week. I started calling around and the first two places laughed at me stating it’s too early for them to have pool sand in stock. Third place had some left from last year and it will be delivered on Friday. I dismantled part of the fence in the yard Tuesday evening. The excavator came out Wednesday to tear down the old pool and said I dismantled the fence where the installer wanted, but I also need to dismantle the fence in a completely different area for excavation. So I will do that early tomorrow. If thing gets pulled off without major problems surfacing, I’ll be surprised. Worst part is I don't even use the damn pool... but I'm the one who maintains it. It's for the lovely wife. I average going in once a season. I told her it looked so nice in the back without a pool. I got the stink eye. :)

It's done... sorta. Everything went fairly well. Wasn’t expecting over $600 for water, though... 13,000 gallons. But I probably have three months worth of Sundays ahead of me to fix everything. I had them take the excavated ground to the bottom of the property. But now I have over 200 feet of foot deep tracks from the excavator that I need to fill in and re-seed. Also, we went with a deeper pool and to maintain the warranty the ground can't be up against the side of the pool, so there needs to be a 1.5 foot clearance, which means I need to build a 2-3 foot high retaining wall all the way around the pool. And I have no idea how I will do that underneath the deck at this point.

Slow, steady and sloppy is the plan. I figure the wife’s OCPD will kick in and she’ll take over building of the retaining wall. I’ll just have to haul everything. That’s what happened with the flower garden from hell wall the other year. Here’s hoping history repeats itself. :)

We had an ice storm over the weekend. There were over 1600 car accidents. On Sunday this happened:

Keegan Matheson tweeted:

Scary moment for the Royals last night:

One of their two buses was hit with a large chunk of ice on their drive in from the airport. The windshield shattered, driver sustained cuts to the face. Blaine Boyer helped take the wheel as they got the bus stopped.

That must have been terrifying.

They were here for a Monday game which ended up being postponed until Tuesday anyway. Because....ice fell off the CN Tower and put a hole in the roof of the Rogers Centre.

As for me....the North neighbour had a tree fall which block both our front walkways. Then the south neighbours tree dropped a huge branch making leaving that way dangerous.

Mother Nature is playing a really long April fool joke on us.
