I woke up this morning 6 am to hard rain and a terrible thunder and lightning. Our first big T storm arrived this morning. It took about an hour and I fell asleep. I got up from the bed around 10 am and it was sunny and 25 Celsius again, WHAT it rained an hour only and then the weather was great again. I had hoped
for a cool and rainy day, but nope.

I will forever refer to this summer as The Horror Summer Of '18. This weekend there actually was a Chinook CH-47 flying over my house, back and forth, back and forth. You know, the alien-invasion-the-world-is-burning type of helicopter with two propellers. Turns out they needed its help to extinguish one of the many wildfires. This is too crazy...

(For The Netherlands, that is. Of course I realise and acknowledge that many countries have seen (and are seeing) much worse conditions around them, and I really feel for them.)

Back in 1997 we had a huge flood here and of course in North Dakota as well. I got a chance to fly in a Chinook - wow - to me it was like being on a bucking horse.

Hope that you guys get some relief soon in the form of much needed rain. ((((Klerekast))))

Just past 2am and it's just started raining it's butt off! My windows are open, and cool air is coursing thru my house -- and I'm off tomorrow after working 13 plus hrs. And there's the thunder! I'm going to sleep tonight. I'm going to be like Grin Van Winkle!

GNTLGNT: Haha, nice one!

Neesy: That must really be an experience to remember. A frightening one though, I imagine! And thanks! We will probably get some rain, but everytime we approach the expected rainy days, they mysteriously disappear from the weather forecast...
I wasn't personally affected by the flood, but I was involved in flood relief as I was still in the military at that time, hence the chance to fly down to the US border at Emerson. It was amazing to fly over the flood and look down at it - it was like a giant lake.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for you - doing a little rain dance! :m_taichi::m_stretch::m_shimmy::m_flowerhead::m_choke:

Ah I see, that must have been really impressive!

The last 2 days were around 15degC, 25 - 30 deg less than its been for weeks. The fire smoke is awful, worst ever recorded in the Valley.. Five of the beaches in the City have been closed because of E Coli.Today is going up to 27dg, which is more sane temps.
Here is a pic of the Lake taken from Knox Mtn in Kelowna. The water at the front is for the lumber mill. Lake and mountains in background but smoke is too thick to see anything.

It's still Dark at Nights but it has cooled down to 22/25°C (71/77°F)

We had a lot of Rain today :)
A lot of rain - is that good? Were you hoping for some relief from the heat?

Your comment reminds me of George Carlin who was the Hippy Dippy Weatherman - he would say "Tonight's forecast - dark"

A few minutes ago British Columbia declared a State of Emergency because of 600+ wildfires burning throughout the province, So far, we have 3,300+
firefighters working on these fires. Not bad temp today, high of 31degC. I saw the sun come up this morning and it was solid red. Never saw anything like that before.
