Babysitting my grandkids. The boy is not even a fan of watching sports. He is a fan of the potato chips or popcorn he gets to eat if he watches hockey with his dad. His dad coached the t-ball team and grandson only wanted the snacks after the game. Granddaughter otoh did great at the practices.

Anyway....watching the Blue Jays this week and dh mentioned the Jays had won a game. Grandson says "oh! Were they playing hockey?"

That could be it. Dang Jays don't know what sport they are playing.

And now....Martin left the game with a strained oblique. (I don't even know what that is. Sounds painful and long DL to me.)

Anyone watch the Little League world series?

No, but your post brought back a wonderful memory.

My dad was hospitalized with dementia, but not Alzheimer's, and physical issues along for the ride. I got permission to take him out in a wheelchair to a park area right next to Prince County Hospital. Beside the park was a baseball field. There was a Little League series....I think world series....going on at the field. My dad was never big into sports, but he did enjoy watching those games. We also had our youngest son with us, and dad was also enjoying watching him playing in the playground.

That was probably the last summer that my visits with dad were more happy than sad.

Anyway, it was a great field for the games because so many patients could watch the games from their rooms.

Red Sox took 2 of 3 from the Yankees. Should have won all three but the bullpen imploded on Friday :(

Nice to see our youngster Devers take Chapman deep to tie the game in the ninth last night. Chapman hasn't been right all year. Joe Maddon overused him in the WS last year. Chapman is feeling the effects now.

Rookie pitcher Rowley's solid debut helps Jays past Pirates - CBC Sports - Baseball - MLB

Chris Rowley's unusual journey to the major leagues culminated in a sharp debut and a standing ovation Saturday, as the rookie led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Rowley, who missed the 2014 and 2015 seasons to serve active duty in the U.S. Army, gave up one run in just over five mostly trouble-free innings as the Blue Jays (55-61) evened their three-game series in front of 46,179 under a closed Rogers Centre.

He admitted he was nervous a night before the game and anxious Saturday morning. With his parents and sister in attendance, the 26-year-old eventually settled his nerves but conceded that he got a "little emotional" during the crowd's boisterous send-off.

"You have 45,000 people standing on their feet — that's the first time I've ever seen that in person. That's pretty cool," he said.

And with the lid closed even. (Jays win more with the roof open.)
