It's not just the 8th graders though. Adults will be shooting too. And if the clown is not trying to break in to your home, or assaulting you, you should not have the right to shoot him.
...here, home invasion means just that...they have to be in your home and threatening life or limb...you are covered by the Castle Doctrine in that case...but if it's just property they are taking, you cannot use deadly force....

But what scares me is several people I know, who oppose any kind of gun control, or anything, are all expecting someone dressed as a clown to be shot for dressing like a clown. For me to expect it is one thing....

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of person would find terrifying small kids or trying to lure kids into the woods while dressed as a clown amusing. It's a bit naive to think you could do that then just throw up your hands and say "just joking" then realistically complain about some parent beating your clown costume clad ass up and down the interstate. I'm not saying this kind of idiot should be smoked or anything but there are pranks, then there's assault with intent to do bodily harm, or attempted kidnapping which I doubt any parent will find funny if put in that situation. Overall, it just sounds like a good way to get your arse beat by some parent who doesn't find your idea of a prank amusing. Egging cars while dressed a clown, annoying but maybe amusing. Smashing pumpkins while dressed up as a clown, a bit childish but again, I could see how that would be amusing.....Coming out of the woods and trying to talk to kids while dressed as a clown or chasing kids around while armed with a knife???? Saw an arrest for that earlier on the news..two women jumping out of a vehicle dressed as clowns and chasing kids around with a knife? Where's that get funny? Both idiots were arrested. Somewhere up north, Michigan I think.

About five years ago I had some moron come running out of a garage with a live chainsaw while I was taking my son trick or treating at the front door of a residence. I guess my reaction wasn't the one he wanted, although my son, about seven years old at the time about had a heart attack. He shut it off and apologized...lol. I guess it all depends your definition of what's funny.

Long thread, a bit tired to read everything atm, sorry.
But I think this is what I would say as well.
I don`t get why people are getting more stupid by the day.
Those idiots should go and do some charity volunteer work since they obviously have a lot of free time on their hands.

I'll be the bookie for you guys, lol.

I'm going to up my bet. I fear it's going to be some innocent teenager who gets shot.

Two schools up here have had clowns chasing primary schools kids. In both cases the kids turned themselves in. In both cases they were young teens. One was a couple boys that had just graduated from the primary school in June.

And I suspect it's going to be a kid who thinks it's funny...until he gets shot.
