 I knew a guy that was in film school and his teacher showed the class this movie and pointed out all of the things in there that show exactly what you said. Really, the first time the two male main characters meet is in a bar and they lock eyes immediately, just staring at each other from across the bar- they don't know each other at that point? The elevator scene in which Cruise and the lady are alone inside, it's stops on a floor and in steps Kilmer's character. He turns his back to them, without one word being said. Doors close. Elevator doors opens, Kilmer steps out, camera shows his butt as he's leaving (Tom's point-of-view) and Tom says 'Well, that answers that.' or something along those lines anyway. And don't forget all the hot, sweaty men playing volleyball with each other......

Yes!
My husband (and apparently everyone else our age) had seen the movie in the 80s. Last night was my first time and oh my word, the way Tom and Val gazed into each other's eyes...is how my hubby and I look at each other when we want to go at it but we're in public.
Maybe it's due for a modern day remake.

Salem's Lot,very late last night..been a long time since I had watched it.A few unintentional chuckles, like when the head vampire knocked the Petrie parents heads together..I reread the book just a few weeks ago,and the sequence is definitely more impressive in print.I actually laughed out loud when the vampire did it on the screen,it looked like a three stooges parody where Moe knocks Larry and Curly's heads together..and whoever was the producer or director for the project definitely had a thing for redheads,I noticed all the female leads were redheads..and noticed that Susan was Bonnie Bedelia, who went on to fame as Officer McLane's wife in the Die Hard movie. One thing, when Mike as a vampire was in the upstairs bedroom, rocking in a rocker,at the teacher's house,I was watching and it was pretty creepy, when suddenly a bird,or a bat,or something, flew into the window behind me,making a loud noise which gave me a heckuva start..even seventies horror movies can still get to you if you get into the story..:icon_eek:

Was that the original one, with David Soul as Ben? I've never seen that one! I have the Rob Lowe one on DVD, but I couldn't get past the first half hour or so. The changes seemed so nonsensical! I think I've read the book too many times to appreciate a movie version :p

I posted on this in a different thread. I was watching it last night, too. A lot scarier than I expected. One jump scare in particular.

How the hell did my name get darker! (an independent movie not released commercially) the sad tale of a internet user who thinks he's going mad. Aliens have infiltrated the website of the well known international author, Steven McQueen, and drive its members kooky.

Yes,that is the one..it's not too bad,it stuck fairly close to the story line, and there are some moments that if you aren't expecting it,can give you a start..have a look probably on youtube or somewhere.. :)

Bonnie Bedelia went on to co-star in Needful Things also.

LilMan wanted to start Kolchak: The Night Stalker on Netflix, so we did a couple of nights ago. I thought the eps we watched were sort of eye rollers (lol), but he really liked them. Anyway, I was looking for the original 'Salem's Lot movie on YT and found The Night Stalker TV movie! I seem to recall Mr. King saying in Danse Macabre that it was very good, so that will be our movie tonight :)

On the IFC channel, Salem's Lot with David Soul and James Mason will be this coming Monday, Part 1 and 2.

I think this is King and Tabby as extras in the movie, brief cameo. Not 100%

Top Gun.

Highly overrated film about very skilled Navy pilots, two of whom are in love with each other, but they were both still in the closet, so they pretended nit to like each other and one of them hooked up with the blonde Pentagon chick instead.

I didn't notice. Then again, I didn't pay attention. Now I want to watch it. XD
