Cake decorating may not technically be a craft as much as it is a skill and I'm not the one who did this, but I'm proud of my daughter for taking it on. She was quoted $4-500!! :icon_eek: to do a birthday cake for my granddaughter like a picture she found so she decided to teach herself. She still had the bakery make the cake itself and then took the decorations to them to be put on the cake. Except for the bigger white and yellow flowers on the second level, she made all the other decorations. The bakery was so impressed they put it on their Facebook page for their cakes of the week.

Front and back of granddaughter’s quilt. I still need to rag it and wash it.

I love your color choices and the seemingly random placement of the squares :) I have a hard time doing random. I would have had those squares spread out on the floor and re-arranged them sixty times before I was able to come up with a (planned) random pattern lol.

What does "Rag it" mean? Great job, by the way :)

I'm also curious as to what "rag it" means :)

That’s exactly how I do it no bounce no play

I take all the top pieces and lay them on the floor. Difficult because no room in my house has that much empty floor space. I stand on a chair and look down, moving blocks around. When I finally admit there is no perfect, I lay all the bottom pieces on top and start moving them around. Again, standing on a chair to get a better view.

Unfortunately, some of the blocks my granddaughter designed were shrunk by the ironing, so I had to replace them. And I can see where they were because in my eye those areas are dark-heavy...had to replace lighter denim with dark.

Have finished up some xmas projects this past month. I'm still working on a scarf for my daughter that is about half finished. If it was knitted, I'd be done by now but this is woven with a very fine yarn so is taking a long time. I'd bought the kit years ago and forgot about it until I was putting things away in my studio. Will include a pic when I'm done.

The quilt is the one for my SIL (not AnnaMarie :D) I mentioned a while ago that my daughter started years ago and I finished. The stocking is the one I started last year and have finally finished for my granddaughter. The hat I made yesterday but am not that happy with the colors. They looked okay in the store but in the hat there's not enough contrast and the gray and blue colors blended together so they look like the same color. Have ordered new yarn to make another one as I know I won't be happy and don't think my daughter would like it as is. Anyone need a hat? :adoration:

No kids at home and a very limited social life. ;-D
Well, I can say I have a very limited social life, too. ;-D My kids are all getting to the "I'm staying in my bedroom with music on, don't bother me!" stage, but they still manage to make messes everywhere else, too. ;) And add RJ and Sage.

I have managed to map out some designs for the Kon bookmarks, but that's as far as I've gotten so far! I am going to have to get busy on them as soon as the holidays are over!

Would it help you feel better if I told you that what I intended to do this weekend was to paint the guest bathroom? I even bought the paint on Saturday morning but then stopped at JoAnn's and saw the yarn I bought for the hat and my "inner squirrel" took over.

I'm trying to get a few of these projects out of the way before January so I can start the Kon project, too. It's going to take a while and I haven't done anything more than think about it. There might have to be a Plan B on the back burner.

You made that hat in a day?!?!? Your new studio must be magical... like Santa's workshop. Did you make the hat with normal knitting needles? I love the pattern, love the colors too :)

That's a really pretty quilt pattern - it's not too fussy, y'know? And the colors won't clash with much. The stocking is also very pretty :)
